FC Barcelona has taken a big decision regarding their attempt to bring back Neymar Jr. to the club. Barcelona has already expressed their interest to bring back Neymar to the club. The Brazillian left for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window at a world-record fee of €220m. Neymar has not settled in Paris since the. In the two seasons, he suffered repeated injuries. He even clashed with his teammates and the board. Neymar is reportedly unhappy at the French capital and has even spoken about his interest to return.
Neymar has already revealed his interest to return to FC Barcelona
Last year, Neymar even started to boycott training seasons. A move to the Camp Nou was on the cards. Several sources even reported that Neymar to Barcelona was a done deal. However, the rumours did not become true and Neymar ended up staying in PSG. However, speculations about him returning to Barca is still on. Moreover, the speculations about him returning to the Catalan Club has only increased ahead of this year’s transfer window.
According to Don Balon, Neymar has placed his demands in front of the Barcelona board. The Brazillian wants Bartomeu to pay an annual salary of €40m. Currently, only Lionel Messi gets that amount. The Barcelona board has reportedly rejected his demands. They will only think to pay this amount to him when Leo Messi retires.
Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City were also being linked to the player. Despite that, Jurgen Klopp may not waste his time on the player now. A move to emerging big-shots Newcastle United could also be on the cards.
Neymar’s wage demands have hindered the move
Neymar’s constant demands for high salary over challenges has put this move in doubt. The Blaugranas are unwilling to match his demands, due to the economical crisis they are in right now. It is also fair in a way because of Neymar’s antics before and after the transfer saga.
Neymar left controversially to Paris, despite Barca wanting to keep him. He wanted to leave for a new challenge and hence let PSG activate his release clause. Just before his move, he also had a training ground fight with Nelson Semedo. Additionally, he even filed a lawsuit against Barca after his move to Paris, over unpaid loyalty bonus.
The board has lost its value of self-respect. Bringing in an injury-prone player with such a big price tag is not the way out right now. Given his previous experiences, the Brazillian may again leave the club on getting a big-money offer. Barcelona is also going through an economic crisis right now. So, breaking the bank for Neymar is never an option right now. The Blaugranas need to strengthen their defensive woes. So investing in a defender may be a better option.
What Barca Actually Wants?
The sole purpose of bringing back Neymar is to win the Champions League. Though they have been tasting regular success in the league, they are eager for a European trophy. However, with such petty demands, a deal might not really happen.
