The Head Coach of the Indian Cricket team, Ravi Shastri recently participated in a live chat with a renowned media house. During this chat, he discussed different things related to cricket. He also revealed and talked about his cricketing memories from 1985 Benson & Hedges World Championship. He also talked about his personal life during the chat. Interestingly, he mentioned two names of the former cricketers with whom he would like to drink beer during the lockdown.
Shastri is a very tough character. He is also known for his straightforward talks. He has a knack of drinking alcohol. There was a lot of controversy during an incident when he publicly drank beer after India secured a historic Test Series win against Australia at the MCG in 2018.
Shastri was part of the latest episode of Sony Ten Pit Stop. The journalist Rajdeep Sardesai was the host of the show. Shastri faced a question of picking two players with whom he would want to drink beer. Specifically, Rajdeep asked Shastri to name his ‘Beer Buddies’. Shastri did not hesitate to answer his question. He picked Roger Binny and Laxman Sivaramakrishnan as his ‘Beer Buddies’.

Shastri also added that his house in Alibaug, Maharashtra falls under the Orange Zone. He even said that he is going to get some beer tonight as the Government has given some relaxations on the lockdown. “With the lockdown now, I am past the red zone and am currently in the orange zone in Alibaug. I am going to get a beer tonight, am sure there will be some shop open.”
“And if I had to get two guys to get a beer with me I am sure Roger would have joined me and so would Siva. Siva (Laxman Sivaramakrishnan), Roger (Binny) will be on the top of the list,” Shastri replied to Sardesai’s question of the ‘Beer Buddies’.
Remembering his best memories of cricket
Additionally, he even spoke about the Benson & Hedges World Championship. He shared some of his fond memories about that tournament and also spoke about his rivalry with Javed Miandad, for the Player Of The Tournament trophy in that Championship.
Shastri spoke about some of the lesser-known events from that tournament. He even reckoned New Zealand to be one of the strongest sides in that tournament. He feels that the Kiwis always used to give more than their best on the cricket field against any opponent.
The all-rounder has really done his bit for the Indian team. Not everyone is happy with the way that things are. However, the controversies are now less and Shastri is now focused on the betterment of Indian cricket. With no cricket going on, it seems that he and his boys can enjoy a well-deserved break.
The pandemic has now spread across the globe and has stopped most of the cricket. It will be interesting to see whether sport resumes any time soon or not. If so, then the fans would be delighted by this news for sure.
