According to former Chelsea forward Tony Cascarino, Blues’ winger Christian Pulisic can outshine legendary Eden Hazard at Chelsea if the American youngster continues his prolific form. Chelsea signed Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund for £58m in January 2019. He arrived at Chelsea at the start of this season with the expectations of a big talented attacking player. Despite having been ruled out almost half of this season through injury, Pulisic has netted 10 times along with ten assists in his first season in English football.
What Cascarino told talkSPORT?
“Have watched him develop and become a player. Looked at Hazard’s stats – first season, nine Premier League goals in his very first season, the 2012-13 season for Chelsea. Keep thinking: ‘Was Hazard as good as Pulisic has been?’ Pulisic has been out of the team at times through injury. He was brilliant in the Super Cup against Liverpool. I do think he has progressed into a player.
“He has got a total of nine Premier League goals as well this season. Think Pulisic is going to be one hell of a player.”
The Comments Further About Christian Pulisic
With having some similar types of attributes like a low centre of gravity and outstanding dribbling skills, Christian Pulisic has drawn competition with Hazard already with some eye-catching performances after the season restarted. Particularly a solo effort against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge with an outstanding game-changing spell after coming off the bench at Anfield against Liverpool, where he almost won a point for Chelsea who was behind by three goals, speaks the volume of Pulisic’s talents.
“Christian Pulisic has got one advantage over Hazard because Hazard was at Chelsea for a long time and over those years there were a few dips and sometimes he looked out of shape. He is a total pro, everything about him is professional.”
“His pathway has been planned, from his parents down to him. The clubs, to get him to the Holy Grail of the Premier League, it has all been programmed in a bit like an android, robot sort of form.
“Boy is he dangerous. If he stays in England for five, six, seven years for Chelsea. Think he will prove to be better than Hazard, and that is a big call.”
What Next For Pulisic And Azpilicueta?
It was unlucky that Chelsea lost the American attacker for hamstring injury in the FA Cup final. That is where he left the pitch after scoring the opening goal. Lampard claims he is not sure about how long it will take for him to return to the team. The same was the case with also Azpilicueta to be back.
Both players are key to Chelsea’s cause. They have not been able to win any titles this term. However, they will want to change that in the upcoming season. Hopefully, Frank Lampard and co. can be more consistent in the months to come.
Let’s wait and watch what happens now. The Chelsea board and faithful do belive in Frank Lampard and Christian Pulisic. Can they live up to expectations? Only time will tell.
