Gautam Gambhir Rates This Innings Of Virat Kohli As The Best

Virat Kohli never looked back once he made his international debut in 2008. With every passing year, his stature continued to rise. From a young player with lots of potentials, he has now grown into a world-class batsman, and undoubtedly the best in modern-day cricket. Kohli’s rise in international cricket has been the testimony to his talent and hard work.

One of the highlights of Virat Kohli’s career is when he smashed a sublimed 183 runs knock against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2012 in the fifth ODI of the tournament in Dhaka. Kohli scored 183 off 148 balls. During his innings, he hit 22 fours and one six. He steered India to an emphatic win over their arch-rivals with 13 balls to spare.

Kohli had to come to the crease in the first over itself. as Mohammad Hafeez dismissed Gautam Gambhir. Virat compiled a 133-runs partnership with Sachin Tendulkar to get India back on track. After Sachin’s dismissal, Rohit Sharma supported him by scoring 68 off 83 balls as India secured a historic win over Pakistan.

Gautam Gambhir rates Virat Kohli’s 183 runs innings against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2012 as one of his greatest.

Virat Kohli's 183 vs Pakistan in 2012 Asia Cup one of his greatest ...

Gambhir recalled Virat Kohli’s knock and lauded him for his innings. He even termed the innings as Kohli’s one of the greatest innings.

What Gambhir said on Star Sports’ Cricket Connected while discussing the Best of Asia Cup-

“Virat Kohli has played many unbelievable innings across the three formats, but this is one of his greatest innings from all points of view. First of all, we were chasing 330, then India was 0/1, and then scoring 183 out of the 330 runs, that too against Pakistan, and that time, he was not that experienced too. According to me, I think probably this is one of Virat Kohli’s greatest innings, honestly.”

This is still Virat’s highest score in ODI cricket and also the highest by any batsman in Asia Cup history. The current Indian captain amassed 613 runs from 11 matches in that tournament. He boasted an impeccable average of 61.30 with three centuries and a half-century.
