Revealed: Two Reasons Why Suresh Raina Will Not Play IPL 2020

Suresh Raina

The Suresh Raina Update- The retired Indian national team cricketer is hit by some devastating news. This is with regards to his uncle’s murder and subsequently has pulled out from this year’s IPL tournament. Raina cited personal reasons as a case for his withdrawal but if reports of Dainik Jagran are to be believed, he is tackling a much larger issue. It is confirmed he won’t return soon.

The Suresh Raina Story And The Latest Update

The news broke out that Raina’s uncle, Ashok is brutally killed in an attack done in midnight with his aunt also suffering severe injuries. It happened when they were sleeping on the terrace of the house in Pathankot’s Thariyral village. The police have failed to identify the attackers until now.

“It is being said that Asha Devi, sister of Raina’s father is fighting for her life in the hospital, while his uncle, identified as 58-year-old Ashok Kumar died in the attack. His cousins– 32-year-old Kaushal Kumar and 24-year-old Apin Kumar also sustained injuries in the attack. Deceased Ashok Kumar’s 80-year-old mother also sustained serious injuries in the attack.”

What The Report Said About His Family?

“Meanwhile, the police have paced their investigation after getting to know that the victims are the close relatives of Suresh Raina. A team of police and forensic experts have collected evidence from the spot. The police also took help from the dog squad to identify the attackers but failed to get any clue.”

CSK CEO KS Viswanathan confirmed about Suresh Raina’s return back to India. He will be out of the remainder of the IPL campaign. He and Chennai Super Kings also passed his support to Raina and his family in this difficult period.

The Incident occurred on August 19, three days after Raina called time on his international career along with another great, MS Dhoni. This is not something he wanted after drawing curtains over a successful career. It is the time that everybody stands behind him and help him recover from this devastating news.

A Random Claim Further Went On To Add

There was another story going around suggesting that Suresh Raina had left the IPL camp due to the fear of COVID. This story does not seem to have any kind of real proof. Most of the members of the CSK camp who have tested positive for the disease are self-isolating at present and well quarantined.

Due to this, it makes absolutely zero sense that Raina would leave the team due to the same reason. He is one of the most decorated players in IPL history and would have wanted to play the current tournament. It could have given him a chance to make his skipper and friend Mahendra Singh Dhoni proud.

However, there was a remark made that said otherwise. It was told to TOI, “On Friday night, in fact, there was a huge ruckus. He tried calling all his teammates, coach (Stephen Fleming), skipper (MS Dhoni) again and again to share his concerns. MS, in fact, also tried explaining things to him but nothing worked. He was badly psyched up and worried. Eventually, everybody else realised there was no point holding him from travelling back because he was totally gripped by fear.”

Unfortunately, if the games are not delayed (which they seem to be now), Suresh Raina could miss the entire tournament. That is what is doing the rounds as of now. How true that is at the end of the day, remains to be seen. Will Dhoni try to bring him back? Let’s wait and watch.
