England were 1-0 behind in the ODI series against Australia after clinching the T20 series with a margin of 2-1. The current World Champions, England were desperate to make a comeback in the one-day series from the second match. However, they did not get the desired start at the beginning of the season.

After coming to bat first, they lost the wickets of both openers in quick succession. Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow have not been able to give their side a solid start. Eoin Morgan and Joe Root tried to build up a partnership. However, the partnership also did not last long. Adam Zampa took the important wicket of Joe Root. After that, England was not able to build a single solid partnership. The wickets fell in a regular interval and England’s innings ended with 231 runs on board. Adam Zampa was the pick of the bowler for Australia. He took three wickets with conceding only 36 runs in 10 overs. Mitchell Starc also took two wickets; while Hazelwood, Cummins and Mitchell Marsh picked up one wicket each.

It was not a big total on the board and it was seeming that Australia would be able to chase the score quite easily. However, Australia also lost two quick wickets at the upfront. However, Finch and Labuschagne were building up a solid partnership. Chris Woakes took the wicket of Labuschagne and after that, it was a batting collapse for Australia. They scored 144 runs with the loss of two wickets. However, their innings ended with 207 runs. England won the match with a margin of 24 runs. Now, these two teams would play the decider on Thursday.
