As the saying goes, ‘an idle mind is the devil’s playground’!! That is exactly what the Rajasthan Royals’ fans would feel after what Sanjay Manjrekar said recently. The former commentator at the IPL was left out this time. It would be because of his harsh comments towards a certain set of players. Once again he has done it now and has gone after RR batsman Sanju Samson.
Though some may say that he is right, others will surely disagree with him. The opinion is such that it can go either way. It also depends on the fact that which team you support, though it is mainly surrounding Team India.
What Sanjay Manjrekar Exactly Said?
Sanjay Manjrekar has a bad habit of saying things that at times don’t make sense. Sometimes, he also goes ahead and says stuff that draws a lot of attention and controversy. Keeping that in mind, here is the Tweet that he sent out recently-
No matter what the format, I make it a point to look at a player’s FC record to get a general idea about the player. Something about Samson that’s always bothered me..his FC average is 37. In comparison, Mayank is 57 & Gill in his 21 matches a staggering 73.

Well, the good thing about this opinion is that it is not as vague as some of the others. A lot of fans may agree with Sanjay Manjrekar. They want the best for the team and at the end of the day, that is all they care about.
What Sanju Samson Had Said About Such Comments Previously?
“I often hear that I need to score regularly. But they forget that there is something called skill and I succeed with that twice in 10 times.”
“Always look to score big. That is my game and I do not want to change that. I play positive and dominant cricket and there is a risk of getting out. Do not like to stay at the crease for long and absorb a lot of balls. I am happy to score double hundreds every 10 innings rather than the 40s and 50s.
The Difference In Thinking Is Visible Compared To Sanjay Manjrekar And His Opinion
The best thing about the game of cricket is that it is a sport of opinions. That is much like any other sport that is being played. Here, once again it becomes visible that the two opinions do not match.
Sanjay Manjrekar wants a cool and calm Sanju Samson. However, the player himself is more focused on scoring faster and more runs consistently, rather than scoring a 50 in every single game. Either way, whatever benefits the player and the team at the end of the day, is what is best.
It can be either be by Sanjay’s method or by Sanju’s method. Doesn’t really matter, as long as there is some success guaranteed and the team does well. Team India’s selectors need to make some tough choices with regards to the upcoming T20 World Cup.
