Watch: The Brilliant Catch By Chris Jordan In The BBL That Had Stunned The World

Big Bash

The Chris Jordan Catch That Went Viral- Australia’s premier T20 competition The Big Bash League (BBL) took on Instagram to commemorate Chris Jordan’s phenomenal catch this time last year. Along with the clip of the catch, the caption read, “It has been a year since Chris Jordan took flight at Optus stadium.”

Chris Jordan Stole The Show With A Brilliant Catch

BBL franchise Perth Scorchers- the team Jordan represents- took no time to comment on the post with fireball emojis. They had earlier posted the video on their Instagram handle. The orange team described the catch as one of the best catches anyone will ever see.

Visiting that catch, the circumstances make the English all-rounder’s efforts even more commendable and appreciated. Jordan, who has been primarily known as a pacer with hard-hitting skills, went unsold at the IPL auction for the 2019 season and was representing Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League while his national colleagues like Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali and Sam Curran were playing in India.

The BBL Remembers; Though RCB Might Want To Forget

He had been a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore side in the 2016 season when he replaced Aussie spearhead Mitchell Starc. Picked up 11 wickets in nine games that season, his debut in the cash-rich tournament. He was then picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2017 when he couldn’t play.

However, during his BBL team’s game against Aaron Finch’s Melbourne Renegades, Jordan not only inspired by healthy bowling figures but also stunned everyone watching the match by claiming a near impossible catch. Chris took the catch in the 18th over of the Renegades’ innings. Fawad Ahmed had bowled a half-volley to Dan Christian and the batsman had slogged the ball towards long-on. Dan, who was playing his only second ball, slapped the half-volley hoping to play one blistering inning to take the Renegades past 196 when they were reeling at 159 in the 18th over.

What Next For The English All-Rounder?

Dan Christian, being the flamboyant batsman he is, hit the ball in a way that it was supposed to fly over the long-on fence. Chris Jordan was stationed a little wider and had to run hard towards his right to first cover the distance and then make a full-length dive to intercept the ball just in time. The video shows Chris Jordan in a full superman pose as he got hold of the ball.

Earlier in the match, the English all-rounder who returned in the national scene only this year- claimed the priced wicket of Melbourne Renegades’ skipper Aaron Finch. He also took a catch to dismiss opener Harper. He was further brought back into action in the 19th over. Jordan dismissed Jack Wildermuth off the over’s very first ball. The 32-year-old finished with the figures of 30/2 in his quota of four overs staging a win for his side.

Perth Scorchers beat Melbourne Renegades by 11 runs. This was as the latter could only manage 185 runs in 20 overs. The Scorchers posted 196 for seven in the 20 overs. That was with their captain Mitchell Marsh’s unbeaten 56 runs knock off 22 being the best effort. Shaun Marsh and Beau Webster scored fifties each. Despite that, it was not enough for the Melbourne-based outfit.
