Three Players Test Positive In Vijay Hazare Trophy, Held Under Disengagement

According to reports on last Tuesday, three anonymous players from the Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Bihar team respectively have tested positive for COVID-19. A source said that the players had been asked to quarantine and will undergo RT-PCR tests again. The ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy has fallen victim to COVID-19.

That is after three players tested positive. The Bihar, Karnataka and Bihar teams face the loss and one player each from the teams wouldn’t participate in the upcoming games. Still things could get better with time, as nothing serious has happened so far. The tournament is expected to continue normally for now. The pandemic is still under check and only time will tell what will happen now.

What a Bihar player told The Indian Express recently?

Bihar and Karnataka played on Monday and the new cases in both the teams saw all the players tested on Tuesday. The Bihar team sees a complete quarantine as instructed by the authorities.

“We will have to undergo RT-PCR tests again and till then we have been told to remain in our rooms. Only after our test results are out. We will we know what has to be done.”

Bihar, which is a part of the  group with Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Odisha, and Railways are scheduled to play all its association games in Bengaluru. According to the decided timetable, they are to lock horns with Uttar Pradesh. That will be happening in an association game on Wednesday.

BCA has confirmed that the schedule will not be disturbed; with a senior official of State body saying-

A Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) official confirmed that the schedule will not be disturbed. Maharashtra faces Himachal Pradesh in the Elite Group D match at Jaipur. All the matches of the Hazare Trophy, the public ODI title, are being played under the bio-secure air pocket across settings.

“It is confirmed and the concerned player has been isolated from other players. He is currently in Bangalore as he cannot travel.”

The players had undergone tests by BCCI prior to the tournament. The squad and staff were then instructed to enter a bio-secure air pocket for the domestic T20 competition. Earlier, cricketers representing Jammu and Kashmir had also tested positive during the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy.
