Tik Tok Users Warned About Silhouette Challenge Hack; Filter Seems Removable

TikTok

Chinese giant Tik Tok last week came up with a silhouette challenge. An effort to propagate the message of celebrating one’s body. However, hackers have attacked the challenge already and the users have been warned to pay heed to what they wear and how they act assuming the silhouette covers all of it.

The silhouette challenge comes with an idea to shoot a video of oneself while Paul Anka’s “Put Your Head on My Shoulder”. Transits into Doja Cat’s “Streets”. The catch is that the video starts away very normally. After the transition changes one’s appearance when onto a silhouette and the background goes red. Users have been using the silhouette filter to pose rather in a sexy way. Some have also seemingly worn lingerie or gone nude, embracing their bodies.

TikTok silhouette challenge: tutorials to remove filter found on YouTube

The silhouette challenge by Tik Tok has backfired:

However, this challenge has backfired when certain hackers found a way to get rid of the silhouette effect and see the original footage, exposing the model. YouTube has been asked to take down the videos showing guides for removing the red filter. The so-called ‘tutorial videos’ have also been widely shared on Twitter and Reddit.

According to Metro writer and speaker Danielle Thomas wrote:

“Men are currently removing the vin rouge red filter from the silhouette challenge. When reminded that this is gross, creepy, and non-consenting. men respond that women are always finding ways to make themselves victims and they should nOt have been naked on the internet. Yes, the same men going through extraordinary lengths to be creepy are finger-wagging women about what they should not put on the internet. This is when rape culture, misogyny, and patriarchal malarkey combine.”

TikTok, Kai Lee aka @lostvsnryshots on the platform also issued a warning and asked people to be careful. His video has been watched more than 800,000 times on TikTok.

The Society Is Changing But Is It For The Better Or The Worse?

The way the society thinks is going through a different kind of evolution. Some of the things that people innovate are just not the need of the day. However, when there is good, there will be bad too. Thus, another trick of the trade that is criminal in intention.

How to do the Silhouette Challenge on TikTok - PopBuzz

The society is changing. However, what good is a change when the world doesn’t need it. It is only proving that people need to focus their ideas for all the right reasons. Things get out of hand at times. That is where the authorities need to step in and take charge. This is one such case yet again. Avoid and stay safe from such activities of the criminal nature.

Tik Tok has always been at the centre of a lot of controversy over the years. This is yet another case that has pulled more negativity to it. Let’s hope that everything ends positively and that no one is really harmed. If not, then there will surely be some dire consequences.
