The cricket fans must have thought that the BBL was the worse tournament with regards to umpiring decisions. However, the opening day of the second Test match between India and England proved otherwise. It was the inexperienced Indian umpires that had to face the heat in Chennai. An umpiring howler saw in this match saw Ajinkya Rahane survive off Jack Leach’s bowling. Aussie all-rounder Glenn Maxwell reacted to it on Twitter and the fans started talking about it.
What Glenn Maxwell Tweeted After The Umpiring Howler?
The former Kings XI Punjab all-rounder was bemused by the fact that such an easy decision was messed up. The umpire should have had things under check but for some reason, it was not the case.
The on-field umpire initially turned down the appeal that was made by the visitors. The decision was sent to umpire Anil Chaudhary, who turned it down as well.
Below is Glenn Maxwell’s Tweet about the incident. It really kicked off a huge debate on Twitter-
How can a third umpire not look at that?!?! ??♂️

What Was The Whole Fiasco About In The Second Test?
When the decision was sent upstairs, there was some concern on the faces of the England team. UltraEdge showed that Ajinkya Rahane had gloved the ball and the catch was taken by forward-short-leg.
The DRS was brought into play once the on-field umpire did not raise his finger. This was after a ferocious appeal from Jack Leach and his compatriots. The replay initially showed a flat line. This was when the ball went past the bat. The third umpire Anil Chaudhary gave Rahane not out.

Overall A Good Day For Team India; Can They Capitalize From Here?
India ended day 1 on 300/6. It was a good batting performance by Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane. There is still some batting left and Team India can do a lot more with the batting that they have. They should at least target another 100 runs or more to end up somewhere around 400 or more.
This game currently favours Team India but anything can happen in cricket. England played really well in the first game. Despite that, they have changed their team around for this one. It will be interesting to see whether they can respond quickly in this game now.
Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell will be hoping to find an IPL team soon. If that doesn’t happen, he could be watching the tournament this time from home. IPL 2020 wasn’t great for him, just like the previous few editions. He has been good at the national level but needs to perform in the domestic circuits. Let’s see if that happens now!!
