Laurent Blanc Criticises Barcelona For Messi And Neymar Decisions

Recent comments from Laurent Blanc have been critical of Barcelona’s recent choices, particularly their decision to part ways with Lionel Messi and Neymar, among other players.

Laurent Blanc discussed Lionel Messi’s recent transfer to Paris Saint-Germain with Panenka Magazine in an interview published in the publication. The former Barcelona defender has blasted the Catalan club for committing “monumental errors,” which he believes include losing Messi and Neymar to other clubs.

Barcelona is going through one of its most tumultuous periods in recent memory; in fact, to suggest that they are in trouble would be an underestimate of the magnitude of their difficulties.

The comments made by the former PSG manager were rather harsh

The debt at Camp Nou is mounting, and their first team is in such bad shape that they may find themselves fighting to finish in the top four come May, something that would have been unimaginable just a few months ago.

In addition, the Catalan giants were forced to sell Lionel Messi to Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window. The relationship between Joan Laporta and Ronald Koeman seems to be very tense as well, despite the fact that the president of FC Barcelona recently said that the two are on the same page. However, with the team’s performances continuing to be bad, the pressure on the outspoken Koeman is only increasing more.

Now, a former Barcelona defender has come out to criticise the Blaugrana for their recent relegation from the Champions League. Laurent Blanc, in an interview with Panenka Magazine, blasted Barcelona while discussing the recent transfer of Lionel Messi to Paris Saint-Germain.

What did Laurent Blanc say about Barcelona losing Messi and Neymar?

“Honestly, for French football, it is amazing to have Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe all competing in the same tournament,” the former Barcelona defender remarked in an interview. “PSG is on another planet, to be sure, but it is beneficial for the French league to watch these players on a daily basis.”

“When I look at it from the perspective of Barcelona, I believe they have made enormous errors. Monumental. Not only for Messi but over the last four or five years as a result of his performances. They have lost great players, which is something that a team like Barcelona cannot afford to have happened to them. You can’t afford to lose Neymar or Messi because it would be very tough to find replacements for them.”

As Barcelona had pushed themselves into a hole when it came to keeping the services of Messi in recent years due to a series of bad financial choices, Blanc’s remarks made sense. Whether Barcelona will be able to emerge from its present difficulties in order to have a great season in the weeks and months to come can only be revealed with time.

The current problem for the La Liga giants is that they don’t have big money to spend. They are barely running things properly at present. With that being said, the Messi and Neymar deal has really messed things up for them with regards to their own fanbase. Hopefully, these things can be rectified and fast.
