Jules Kounde Talks About His Unsuccessful Summer Move To Chelsea

Jules Kounde claims that the unsuccessful summer transfer to Chelsea had an impact on him, as he stayed back at Sevilla.

Chelsea created news when they announced the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan in a deal for close to £100m. They were in dire need of a dependable striker and found one in the Belgian international, despite spending the whole of the summer pursuing Erling Haaland as a possible replacement.

During that time period, Thomas Tuchel made several fascinating transfer moves, including allowing Kurt Zouma to join West Ham United in a £30 million transfer deal. Allowing the Frenchman to go, on the other hand, was motivated by his belief in the signing of Jules Kounde from Sevilla.

Lopetegui accepted that Kounde’s transfer to Chelsea did not materialise as the offer was not right

The Sevilla defender has recently been linked with a January transfer to Barcelona, where the club’s new manager, Xavi, wants to bring in the star to bolster his defensive line. Chelsea, on the other hand, are presumably still in the running after a proposed transfer failed to materialise in the summer. The reason for this was that the Spanish club upped their asking price for the defender despite having reached a verbal deal with the Premier League side earlier in the transfer window.

The manager of Sevilla acknowledged that Chelsea had failed to give a fair price for the defender some time ago, which resulted in the deal collapsing. “In the end, Kounde has remained because the club has determined that it was the correct thing to do based on the appraisal of the offers they may have received,” Lopetegui said.

Kounde talks about his failed transfer which did not really help his case

Kounde, in his own words, has spoken up about the failed attempt, as his remarks were published on Goal.com through Telefoot. The Frenchman expressed excitement at the prospect of playing for Chelsea, and the fact that he was unable to go to another club seems to have had an impact on him.

“Did my unsuccessful move to Chelsea this summer have an impact on me? Yes, a tiny amount, but it is all been digested now,” said Kounde.

Chelsea transfer news: Blues hopeful of Jules Kounde deal

Chelsea will still make an offer for Kounde in January but will the deal go through or will be moving to another top European club?

According to current circumstances, Chelsea seems to be well-stocked in defence. That is actually despite the loss of Zouma. The development of Trevoh Chalobah this season has more than compensated for the absence of the West Ham defender and the inability to sign Kounde in the summer transfer window.

Tuchel may request that the club make another proposal for Kounde, given the uncertainty surrounding the future of Antonio Rudiger, whose contract expires at the end of the season. Overall, Kounde’s future will continue to be a source of curiosity when the January transfer market opens, as a number of teams, including Chelsea, will be interested in signing him.
