Michael Vaughan Hits Back At India’s Dismal Performance Against New Zealand

India and New Zealand have clashed horns for the vital T20 World Cup 2021 match. Kane Williamson chose to bowl first after winning the toss at Dubai International Stadium. The Kiwis, on the other hand, controlled the ball. Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan, who was analysing the match scenario, sent out a Tweet in which he took a mild jab at India’s batting.

Winning this game was critical for both teams. India’s batting line-up, on the other hand, suffered a collapse. The team’s openers were gone early on, and the top order was unable to make significant contributions with the bat. India went into the game with Ishan Kishan and Shardul Thakur instead of Suryakumar Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, but it didn’t make a significant impact. The Virat Kohli-led team could only muster 110 runs from their 20 overs.

Taking note of India’s dismal showing with the bat, Vaughan turned to his own Twitter account to convey his thoughts. “India is playing 2010 Cricket,” he wrote. The game has progressed… #T20WorldCup.”

India’s batting suffered in their first match against Pakistan. As the Men in Green controlled the game, the side lost more wickets. However, captain Virat Kohli’s half-century and a fast cameo by Rishabh Pant helped the squad to post a competitive total.

The scripts remained mostly unchanged in the game versus the Black Caps. New Zealand’s bowlers caused chaos as India scored 110 runs. Trent Boult took three wickets in the game and was very frugal with the ball.

“India might be on the verge of exiting this #T20WorldCup.. the attitude & approach with all that skill so far has been so incorrect #India,” Vaughan posted from his official Twitter account. India’s batting performance was subpar, and the application was off. Due to Suryakumar Yadav’s injury, Ishan Kishan was inserted into the XI and elevated to start the batting.

The situation of the match

As a result, Rohit Sharma was inserted at number three, while KL Rahul was kept as an opener. Kishan got out early, while Rahul followed him after scoring 18. Rohit and Virat Kohli didn’t get going either, as India was 48 for 4 at the midway point. They were never the same after that. The Blackcaps bowlers maintained the pressure on the Indian hitters and never let them hit themselves out of position.

Hardik Pandya hit 23 runs off 24 balls, while Ravindra Jadeja hit 26 runs off 19 balls. Their efforts helped India’s total reach 110 for 7 at the conclusion of their 20 overs. The fact that India did not strike a single boundary between 5.1 and 16.6 innings sums up India’s awful batting performance (71 balls).

A score like India’s was never going to be too difficult for the New Zealand squad. New Zealand won the match by eight wickets. This is going to be a very difficult task for the Indian team to qualify for the semis. They would have to depend on the other results, besides winning their three matches.

Irrespective of what Michael Vaughan had to say, the performance was really poor. This was not something that was expected of the Indian side. However, it’s just embarrassing to watch them play poor cricket like this. Hopefully, it changes in the games to come!!
