Barcelona News: According to reports, Barcelona is prepared to cancel the contract of backup goalkeeper Neto if they are unable to find a buyer for him before the end of the season

Barcelona News: The Catalan radio station Catalunya Radio reports that Barcelona is prepared to sell second-choice goalkeeper Neto Murara. If they are unable to find a buyer for the Brazilian, the club is prepared to release him by terminating his contract. They will also pay him a severance package.

Neto joined Barcelona in the summer of 2019 from neighbouring La Liga club Valencia. He was part of a complicated deal that saw Jasper Cillessen go to Mestalla in exchange for Neto. With Marc-Andre ter Stegen as his primary rival, the former Juventus goalkeeper has been forced to play second fiddle during his almost three-year stint at the Camp Nou.

Neto has suffered from the lack of game time

Indeed, in almost three full seasons with the Catalan club, Neto has been on the pitch only 20 times in all competitions since joining the club. On seven of those times, he has been able to retain a clean sheet of paper.

Since last year, the Brazilian veteran has been pressing for a move away from the club. He has attracted the attention of teams in the Premier League. Neto was also linked with a move away from the Camp Nou during the January transfer window. Flamengo, who is based in his native Brazil, attempting to woo him away from the club. However, a transfer did not materialise. He has remained at Camp Nou throughout his career.

In contrast, Barcelona is now prepared to sanction the transfer of its star midfielder after the current season. To create stronger competition for ter Stegen, who has struggled at times during the current season, the Blaugrana are looking to bring in a new shot-stopper. And, to create space for the newcomer, the club is now ready to release Neto from his contractual obligations.

Barcelona News: Future of Neto Murara

Barcelona News

Brazilian footballers have always sparked a great deal of attention in the United States. And those teams might re-introduce themselves as potential bidders for his services in the future. And this is especially true given that the Brazilian will be approaching the last year of his contract with Barcelona after the season. Should no suitors emerge, the La Liga heavyweights are prepared to grant Neto a way out by issuing him with a “letter of release.”

It signifies that Barcelona and the player have agreed to mutually terminate his contract in the summer. The player would get a portion of the value of his remaining contract with the club. A move of this kind might be beneficial to both sides. The Blaugrana would be able to reduce their salary bill. Neto’s chances of finding a new club would rise if he became available on a free transfer. So, we have to wait and see what Neto Murara and Barcelona finally decide.
