Barcelona News: Barcelona has begun their contract talks with Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah

Barcelona News: Barcelona has allegedly begun talks with Liverpool star Mohamed Salah over a possible transfer to Camp Nou this summer, according to media reports. The Egyptian’s contract with the Reds will expire in 2023. He has so far turned down the opportunity to extend his agreement with the club.

As reported by AS, Barcelona considers Salah to be a potential replacement for Borussia Dortmund attacker Erling Haaland. In addition to being considered the Catalan giants’ top transfer target, Haaland is expected to attract the attention of several other prominent teams.

The 21-year-old has made 80 appearances for Borussia Dortmund in all competitions during his two-year stay at the club. He has scored 80 goals in the process. Barcelona, on the other hand, is expected to face heavy competition from the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City in the race to recruit the Norwegian international.

Unfortunately for Xavi, his team does not have the financial resources to compete with Real Madrid and Manchester City for Haaland owing to their precarious financial status. As a result, they have turned their attention to Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.

Salah is presently in first place in the league’s scoring rankings. He has scored 20 goals in 26 games. In all, the attacker has made 35 appearances in all competitions this season. He has scored 28 goals and assisted on a further ten occasions.

Salah has fewer than eighteen months remaining on his current Liverpool deal. Even though the Reds’ current contract offer seems to be unimpressive, the 29-year-old has shown an interest in moving to England and becoming one of the highest-paid players in the country.

Salah’s future at Liverpool is uncertain. The club may trade him this summer rather than risk losing him to a free transfer next season. Barcelona is attempting to take advantage of the uncertainties surrounding the Egyptian’s predicament by signing him to a contract.
