Chris Rock was in stunned disbelief, so was the entire audience and the millions of viewers across the globe. One of the most famous and revered actors across the globe just literally slapped an award presenter on a joke?. The crowd, which was initially boisterous, descended into shocked silence. This act left them in a state of disbelief, with no one really aware of how to react to this.

To add to that, Marca had earlier reported that the reason for the slap could be the fact that Chris and Jada might have had an affair in the past. It is quite well known that Will and Jada’s relationship has been open for several years. To add to that, Chris and Jada had a close relationship, as they worked for the Madagascar franchise.

Well, the other side of the story is that it turns out that the reaction was due to the fact that Jada suffers from a condition called Alopecia. It is an autoimmune condition where the immune systems attack hair follicles, which results in hair loss. Hair typically falls out in small, round patches about the size of a quarter, but in some cases, hair loss is more extensive. Most people with the disease are healthy and have no other symptoms.

The reason for this condition is unknown, but the common consensus among the researchers is that it has something to do with both genetics and environmental factors, which leads the immune system to mistakenly attack the hair follicles. Health experts have classified the hair loss condition into three types:

Patchy: In the most common type, hair loss happens in one or more coin-sized patches on the scalp or other parts of the body.
Totalis: People with this type lose all or nearly all of the hair on their scalp.
Universalis: This is an extremely rare type, there is a complete or nearly complete loss of hair on the scalp, face, and rest of the body.

Jada first opened up about her struggles with Alopecia way back in 2018, on her Red Table Talk series, saying that she used to find a handful of hair while taking a shower. This led to her having various struggles, after which she admitted that she found the initial stages of Alopecia terrifying to deal with, but later found the strength, after which she decided to permanently shave her head.

She then publically showed her shaved hairstyle in 2021.
