Sourav Ganguly Comments On Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli’s Poor Form

ICC World T20 2022: When asked about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s performances in the current Indian Premier League, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly expressed his optimism that both players would return to form soon. Even though they are both important players and the backbone of the Indian squad, they have had a hard spell during the IPL 2022. This is cause for concern.

After having a terrible showing in the tournament the previous year, India will be competing in the Twenty20 World Cup later this year in Australia. As a result, the expectations placed on the team have grown. Everyone hopes that they will have a successful return. However, both Kohli and Rohit’s respective IPL sides have struggled to win their most recent games. As a result, their performances have been a source of worry.

“I’m not at least concerned about the form of Rohit or Virat. They are well above average…true big players. The World Cup is a long way off. I do not doubt that they will be in great form well in advance of the competition,” Ganguly said in an interview with Mid-Day.

In 13 games so far this season, Kohli has scored 236 runs at an average of 19.67 and has a strike rate of 113.46. In IPL 2022, only one half-century and three golden duck dismissals are to his credit. Except for the first year of the Indian Premier League, Kohli’s statistics have never been as dismal. The move that he made to relinquish his role as captain to relieve some of the pressure was also unsuccessful.

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma has scored 218 runs across 12 matches with an average of 18.17 runs per game and a strike rate of 125.29. This season, the Indian all-format captain has not been able to reach a single half-century. He has been responsible for five scores that are in the single digits in addition to one duck. The five-time-winning skipper was unable to steer his team to a successful season this time around. As a direct consequence, they were the first team to be eliminated from the competition.
