IPL 2022 Live Update: Aakash Chopra, who played for India in the past, believes that the Gujarat Titans (GT) have flourished in their first season of competition in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) since there were no celebrity players on their roster. In Chopra’s opinion, the presence of notable people might occasionally intimidate others who are there.
After defeating the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the first qualifier for the Indian Premier League 2022, Gujarat, captained by Hardik Pandya, was the first side to qualify for the tournament’s final. Earlier on, they also came out on top in the league stage. They won 10 out of 14 matches during their first season in the Indian Premier League.
In the championship game of the IPL 2022, GT will face off against the team that emerged victorious from the second qualifying round. It will take place on Friday between RR and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
What did Chopra say?
During a question and answer session on his YouTube channel, Chopra lauded the ethos of Gujarat’s squad and stated:
“When there are no notable players on the squad, the atmosphere tends to be friendlier. There is no celebrity culture in which people predict that Kohli or ABD will score runs in a certain game. When something like this occurs, the other players may start to feel like they have a disadvantage. It can occur for teams that feature players like Chris Gayle, Jos Buttler, or KL Rahul. On the other hand, in GT, every single player has an equal opportunity to win.”
Hardik, the captain of Gujarat, is currently the player with the most runs scored for the club in IPL 2022. In 14 games, he has played, he has accumulated 453 runs. He has a batting average of 45.30 and a strike rate of 132.84. Mohammed Shami, the team’s pacer, has the most wickets to his name as a result of his work with the ball. In the 15 matches, he has played, he has 19 wickets, with an average score of 23.94 and an economy rate of 7.98.
IPL 2022 Live Update: I won’t name RCB the favourites to win the Indian Premier League in 2022. – Aakash Chopra
Although GT is among the odds-on favorites to take home the IPL championship this season, several industry experts, like Harbhajan Singh, a former off-spinner for India, believe that this might be RCB’s year to shine in the Twenty20 competition.
Chopra believes that winning the tournament would not be an easy assignment for Bangalore, even though they have found a wonderful rhythm in their play. He remarked that
“I won’t name RCB the favorites to win the Indian Premier League in 2022. They will need to win both tonight’s game and the next one after that. It is not simple to go on a winning streak of three games in a row. They are not going to be successful if Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, and Glenn Maxwell do not show up to the party. They are riding a wave of success. But they will face RR in a match that should be a close fight.”
After the Mumbai Indians (MI) eliminated the Delhi Capitals (DC), the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) qualified for the playoffs via the fourth and final spot.
