Latest Liverpool News: Jamie Carragher, a commentator for Sky Sports, has decided that Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne is the finest player of the season. Thus, he placed him ahead of Mohamed Salah, who plays forward for Liverpool.
This season in the Premier League, Salah has racked up 22 goals and 14 assists to his name. Carragher did point out, though, that the bulk of Salah’s goals had come in matches that were not considered to be significant. In contrast, the former Reds defender said that De Bruyne had come through for the team on multiple occasions when the stakes were very high.
Latest Liverpool News: What did Carragher say?
Carragher made these remarks while appearing on Monday Night Football:
“In the first half of the season, Mohamed Salah was without a doubt the top player. But Kevin De Bruyne was the finest player in the second half. You need just consider the significant accomplishments he attained. In competition with Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, and Liverpool.”
The 44-year-old player continued by saying that De Bruyne is well on his way to becoming one of the greatest players in the history of the English league:
“I believe that he is the most talented player in the league. I adore Kevin De Bruyne. If you take Liverpool out of the picture, I would say that Kevin De Bruyne is the player that I would watch the most. I do not doubt that he will go down in history as one of the Premier League’s all-time greats.”
Latest Liverpool News: Another season of the Premier League title battle has been locked between Manchester City and Liverpool
In the early goings of the Premier League season, Chelsea jumped out to an early and commanding lead at the top of the standings. However, since then, the Blues have fallen farther behind. Manchester City has taken over as the leader of the league.
The club that Pep Guardiola coaches have been doing really well. At one point in the season, they even increased their advantage to ten points.
In the meantime, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool staged a remarkable comeback after getting off to a bad start. They have been excellent in the league so far in 2022. They have cut the margin at the top down by a big amount. The Reds are now four points behind Manchester City, although they do have a game in hand over Guardiola’s squad.
If Liverpool is victorious vs Southampton on May 17, they will close the gap between themselves and City to one point heading into the final game week. As has been the case on several occasions this year, the battle for the Premier League can be decided in the last moments.
Liverpool’s chances of winning the Premier League
I am aware that some Liverpool supporters still hold out hope that their team will win the quadruple. But if someone were to give me odds on it occurring at this very moment, I cannot say that I would be willing to take them.
I simply don’t see Manchester City losing to Aston Villa at home on Sunday. They are such heavy favorites to win the Premier League title at this point that I just can’t see it happening. Even if there is an additional motive for Villa manager Steven Gerrard and player Philippe Coutinho, both of whom are Liverpool old boys, as well as for Danny Ings and Tyrone Mings, both of whom played for Liverpool as a teenager, to prevent City from gaining the points they need.
