Latest Liverpool News: Alex McLeish, manager of the Scottish team that won the Premier League, says that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s “exceptional personality” has contributed to the club’s success in maintaining the happiness of its bench players.
These remarks were made by McLeish after Jurgen Klopp had expressed his regret to the rotation players in his squad as he was addressing the media after his team’s performance against Southampton. In the game, the German strategist made nine substitutions to the starting eleven. It includes putting players like Takumi Minamino, Harvey Elliott, and Curtis Jones in the starting lineup.
The majority of his substitutions paid off for the squad. That is as they secured a crucial 2-1 victory on May 18. A win that kept them in the hunt for the Premier League. In his post-match interview, Jurgen Klopp alluded to the lack of playing time for some of those players as a “crime,”. He said that it was unfair to them (as quoted by the Liverpool Echo).
Latest Liverpool News: What did he say about Klopp?
McLeish, a former manager of Rangers FC, thinks that the personality of the Reds manager is a large part of the reason why we seldom hear players complaining about not getting enough playing time. He said the following to Football Insider:
“Klopp said that “He seems to be a cracking people guy. This is what I mean when I say “that”. And by “that,” I mean “the team that does not play every single week. The guys who do not play every single week.” And “you don’t see them saying anything awful.”
The 63-year-old man continued by saying:
“You don’t hear them complaining about how they don’t get enough game time. Because he has such a unique personality. He has won the hearts of the people of Liverpool as well as football fans all around the globe. His teammates look up to him.”
Because Klopp’s team is vying for all four titles this season, he has made excellent use of the resources at his disposal. During the Reds’ journey to victory in the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup, players like Minamino and Kostas Tsimikas stood out as particularly impressive.
Within the next week, Liverpool has a chance to win all four major titles
On the last day of the Premier League season, the match at Anfield between Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers will take place. On the 22nd of May, Klopp’s team will enter the match behind the league leaders, Manchester City. Manchester City will be hosting Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium on that day.
If City is unable to win or draw, a victory for Liverpool against Bruno Lage’s team will be enough for them to claim the title. If, however, Pep Guardiola’s squad is victorious against Villa, they will be awarded their fourth Premier League title in the last five years.
Klopp’s squad will face Real Madrid in the final of the UEFA Champions League at the Stade de France six days after their encounter against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Moreover, the Los Blancos have already won La Liga. They are now seeking to win a record-extending 14th Champions League title.
