LSG vs RR Live Update: Aakash Chopra, a former Indian batter, has expressed astonishment at the choice that Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson made to drop himself to No. 5 in the batting order for the match between the Rajasthan Royals and the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League 2022. RR’s action, according to Chopra, is analogous to “shooting oneself in the foot.”
Rajasthan suffered defeat to Delhi by a score of eight wickets in their last encounter, which took place at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. After losing the coin toss and being allowed to bat, RR scored an under-par total of 160 for six on the board. Due to the unavailability of Shimron Hetmyer, Samson forced himself down the batting order to position No. 5. Ravichandran Ashwin and Devdutt Padikkal batted before him. While Ashwin and Padikkal both contributed 50, Samson was only able to score six runs.
What did Aakash Chopra say?
The setback that RR suffered at the hands of DC was their third loss in their previous four matches. On Sunday, they will play the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. While providing a preview of the match on his YouTube channel, Chopra cautioned Samson not to make the same error he did in the previous game. He said:
“Rajasthan is an excellent squad. But as of late, they have struggled a little bit. In their most recent game, the batting order they used was a mess. Sanju Samson cannot bat so low in the order. Even if Shimron Hetmyer had not been there, this maneuver would have been the equivalent of shooting oneself in the foot.”
Hetmyer was unable to play in the game versus Delhi after coming home to be with his wife at the birth of their first child. Even though the West Indian is back in the Rajasthan camp, it is still unknown if he will play in the match that will take place on Sunday.
LSG vs RR Live Update: “They have the option of sending Hetmyer further up the order if he is available.” – Aakash Chopra wants Hetmyer included in the Rajasthan Royals’ batting lineup
To elaborate more on Rajasthan’s batting, Chopra asked the franchise to be flexible with Hetmyer (if he is available) and strategically utilize him. Chopra was speaking specifically about Rajasthan’s batting. He added:
“Yashsvi Jaiswal is doing a good job. RR will be looking for runs from Jos Buttler this time after he was out for a low score in the last game. Additionally, if they have Hetmyer available, they may move him up the lineup such that he is ahead of Devdutt Padikkal. It is entirely dependent on the current state of the game and the number of overs that are still available.”
Hetmyer has been held back until the last few overs by Rajasthan, since they have mostly employed him as a pinch-hitter. A lot of cricket analysts believe that the franchise may make greater use of the powerful West Indian batsman by changing some of their strategies.
