Barcelona News: "Barca Showed Interest In Me"- 29-Years-Old Says That Barcelona Was Interested In Signing Him In January

Barcelona News: According to Argentina’s left-back Nicolas Tagliafico, Barcelona reportedly showed interest in signing him in the month of January.

Since joining the Dutch giants in 2018, the Ajax defender has been an integral part of the club’s success. He was a major contributor to his team’s run to the semifinals of the Champions League in his first full season with the club.

Tagliafico regained his spot in Erik Ten Hag’s lineup after spending the first part of the season on the bench. He went on to make a total of 30 appearances during the season.

The 29-year-old has participated in all three of Argentina’s most recent matches. He played in all three games in their whole. This includes their triumph against Italy in the Finalissima at Wembley Stadium, which Argentina won 3-0.

After their victory against the defending champions of Europe, the defender confessed that conversations about his future had taken place in January. Barcelona had shown interest. On the other hand, he asserts that there was never any kind of agreement in place.

According to what Tagliafico said, as cited by Que T’hi Jugues:

“Barca showed interest in me during the previous market. I took advantage of that opportunity. There was a lack of agreement between the clubs. As a result, it did not take place.”

The contract that the South American is now under has only a little over a year remaining on it. According to Fabrizio Romano, it is probable that he will be leaving the Johan Cruijff Arena this summer.

Manchester United 'Very Close' To De Jong Transfer Agreement With FC Barcelona

Frenkie de Jong has said that he wants to continue playing at the Camp Nou

It is not a secret that the Blaugrana are having financial difficulties. According to GOAL, president Joan Laporta disclosed in August 2021 that the five-time European champions are €1.35b in debt.

After finishing 13 points behind Real Madrid in the La Liga standings and being eliminated in the group round of the Champions League, Xavi Hernandez will be eager to make improvements to his team this summer.

It has been widely reported that the Catalan giants are interested in signing Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski. Nevertheless, the 33-year-old attacker would not come cheap.

Frenkie de Jong, who is 25 years old, is one of the players that has been mentioned in connection with a possible transfer away from the Camp Nou. According to a report in The Sun, Erik ten Hag has shown interest in managing him once again for Manchester United.

Nevertheless, in an interview with ESPN, De Jong stated:

“Staying in Barcelona is more appealing to me. My ideal football team would be Barcelona. Additionally beginning from a young age, I just stated that too. I had hoped for more in terms of rewards than I’ve actually accomplished so far. But, I have never once regretted the decision that I made.”

Since moving to Catalonia from Ajax in 2019, the Dutch playmaker has had a successful and unsuccessful time in the region. As a result, Xavi has made him a regular starter in the midfield three that he uses. De Jong has appeared in 46 games thus far this season.
