Gabriel Martinelli, a striker for Arsenal, said that Theirry Henry was the best player in the history of the Premier League.
Henry was a true legend at the club. He played 376 times for the Gunners, which is a lot. During his time at the north London club, the legendary forward scored 228 goals and set up 103 more.
Martinelli told Football Daily about what he thought of Henry as a player.
What did Gabriel Martinelli say?
The famous French striker is very important to the Brazilian, as he said:
“I’ve met him before. He is a nice person. On the field, he was out of this world. A legendary player for both the team and the Premier League. I think he is the best player in Premier League history. Unbelievable player.”
He was also asked if he tries to play as Henry does. The 21-year-old responded with confidence and said his favourite goal was the World Cup winner’s famous goal against Tottenham:
“Sure, why not? I think everyone does because everyone looks up to him. The one against Tottenham. My favourite. He slips on that one and goes on his knee.”
In 1999, Henry left Juventus and went to play for Arsenal. He was an important part of Arsene Wenger’s unbeatable season in 2003-2004. During that league season, the Gunners didn’t lose a single game.
The Gunners had a good start to their season when they beat Crystal Palace 2-0 on the road. After that, Leicester City was beaten 4–2 at home. In their last away game, Arsenal beat Bournemouth by a score of 3-0.
The following week, they will play Fulham at the Emirates Stadium (August 27). Gabriel Jesus, a new player for the Gunners, has been amazing since he joined.
The Brazilian has been very important to their recent success. He has scored goals and been a key part of their build-up play.
Arsenal is on a run
Martinelli lit up the left wing for Arsenal at the start of the 2022/23 season, solidifying his place as a regular starter in Mikel Arteta’s strong team. The 21-year-old is on the left side of the attack, next to Bukayo Saka. Martin Odegaard is in the middle, and Gabriel Jesus is at the spearhead.
He has helped the Gunners get off to a perfect start in the Premier League. He scored in wins against Crystal Palace on the first night of the season and Leicester City the next weekend. Martinelli was asked about Henry and whether he had met the Highbury hero before Saturday’s game with Fulham.
