‘They’re Looking At The Long Term’-Arsenal Shortlist 3 Targets To Sign in Order To Strengthen The Attacking Third

'They're looking at the long term'-Arsenal Shortlist 3 Targets To Sign in Order To Strengthen The Attacking Third

Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports says that Arsenal is “still looking” for a player to add to their forward line in the time that is left of the transfer window.

The Gunners have had a good summer so far, but they are still looking for more attacking players before the deadline in September.

What’s the most recent news about Arsenal?

Nicolas Pepe has joined Ligue 1 team OGC Nice on a season-long loan from Arsenal. Pepe was the club’s record signing, but he only played in five Premier League games last season.

Mikel Arteta only has Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Emile Smith Rowe, and Reiss Nelson to choose from on the wings. Reiss Nelson hasn’t played for the capital club’s first team since 2021/22.

Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira came from Manchester City and FC Porto, respectively, to give Arsenal more options in the final third of the field. Both players are best when they are in the middle of the attack, though.

So, it seems like Arteta’s top goal in the last few days of the window is to sign another winger.

What about Arsenal, has Sheth said?

In an interview with GiveMeSport, Sheth said, “People said, ‘Look, Gabriel Jesus came in. Does that mean we don’t need to bring in someone in the forward line?'”

“At first, you might have thought yes, because Jesus can play anywhere in the front three, but it’s clear now that Mikel Arteta sees him as the striker. Since he is the number nine, they still need to find a player to add to the forward line.

Therefore, I think Arsenal will still be looking. If they sign someone in this window, it won’t be the end of the world because Arteta and the club have shown that they’re looking at the long term.

So, if their long-term target is, say, Pedro Neto, and they can’t get him in this transfer window, would they spend a lot of money on another target? Or would they just think, “Well, Neto is the guy who will change this team, so let’s wait and see.”

So, what are the options?

David Ornstein of The Athletic said that Wolves star Neto is at the top of Areta’s short list and that talks about a possible deal have been going on for “more than a month.”

Also, the Spanish news outlet AS says that Arsenal has made a €40 million (£33.8 million) bid for Villarreal’s Yeremy Pino, who had a breakout season last year at age 19.

And now, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has said that the North London team “loves” Bayer Leverkusen player Moussa Diaby, but that it won’t be “an easy signing” to make.
