‘I Think He Has Made It Clear’-Mikel Arteta Reveals Whether Arsene Wenger Is Coming Back To Arsenal

'I think he has made it clear'-Mikel Arteta reveals whether Arsene Wenger is coming back to Arsenal

Arsenal News: Mikel Arteta, who is the manager of Arsenal, has said that he would love to have Arsene Wenger back at the club. However, it is up to the Frenchman to decide what the future holds for him. There have been a lot of talks going around the club regarding what Wenger would do at the Emirates, now that he is done with his role as the club’s manager.

During his long time at Arsenal, Wenger’s name became synonymous with the team. The Frenchman was the manager of the Gunners for 22 years until 2018. He has been linked with a role in the board at times too. Despite that, there is no certainty so far.

Mikel Arteta, who is now the manager of the Gunners, played for the legendary manager for five years, from 2011 to 2016. Arteta said at the book launch of David Dein, the former chairman of Arsenal, that he would love to see Wenger come back to the club.

The Spaniard also said that, after everything Wenger has done for the club, the North London team would always welcome him with open arms. The Daily Mail reported what he said:

“Would love for him to come back. I think he has made it clear. I think he can get into this football club through any window or door. He can rejoin whenever he wants. Whenever he thinks it is the right time. He knows that because I told him. Because a lot of other people at the football club told him.

I hope that happens soon. This is because it will be inspiring. So many people would be glad to see him back.”

After Arsene Wenger left, the Gunners had a hard time for a few years. Unai Emery was hired to replace the French manager. But the Spaniard left the Emirates after less than a year and a half. He could not get the backing from the team and the fans, the same way that his predecessor did.

Freddie Ljungberg was the manager for a short time before Arteta was named manager in December 2019. So far, the Spaniard has done well at the Emirates. After a few bad campaigns, he is slowly getting things back on track.

Before Arteta took over, the north London club was in a much worse position. The 40-year-old has worked to bring back the club’s values and set rules in the locker room. He still has a long way to go. However, the start has been really positive for the team overall. They are looking really good this season.

Arsenal is on top of the Premier League table after six games because they have won five and lost only once. The team led by Mikel Arteta will play at Brentford on Sunday (September 18).
