“Chelsea Aren’t Doing A Barca,” Mateo Kovacic ‘Streaked’ Across Stamford Bridge For A Good Reason; Here’s Why

Update on the Mateo Kovacic Incident!! As The Who initially quoted and Limp Bizkit followed it up, “NO ONE KNOWS WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE A BAD MAN!!” Well, that’s the case here with one Chelsea star. Post the Manchester United game, what may seem like a sweet and simple gesture to some, ended up adding more misery to the already grieving Chelsea fans.

Not only had their team put up a sub-par performance once again. Further, they failed to hold on to a gift from Scott McTominay, who gave them a cheap penalty. With that being said, the game at Stamford Bridge ended 1-1. Summer signing Casemiro did the job for Ten Hag’s side. And his first goal couldn’t have come at a much better time than this.

Why Mateo Kovacic 'streaked' across Stamford Bridge pitch after Chelsea draw vs Man Utd - football.london

Despite a great end to the game, Mateo Kovacic steals the limelight

With Eminem quoting, “WEAR MY SHOES JUST TO SEE, WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE ME!!”, think it would be an easy pass this time. Running from one end of Stamford Bridge across to the tunnel in your underwear, we did not want to see that sight. Kids, close your eyes!!

Anyways, everyone was wondering what was Mateo Kovacic doing. Some wondered if this was a dare of some sorts. Others thought, are the protests against Qatar starting once again!!? Just to let you know, it was none of these.

Kovacic is shooting for..nah..just kidding. It wasn’t anything to do with any of the thoughts that most of you, who don’t know much about the incident, might have had. It was quite simple to be honest.

The Croatian international was just keeping a promise to a fan

Sometimes when a footballer wants to keep a promise, they just go to certain lengths beyond the imagination of us ‘muggles’. Though the creative player did not start the game, he did come off from the bench in the match. Keeping that in mind, Mateo Kovacic had promised a fan his matchday kit. Now, ideally, someone would just take the jersey (shirt) and go home. Not this fan!!

He wanted both the shirt and the shorts. And the Blues’ midfielder obliged and ended up in his underwear in the process. Well, Social Media did not show any mercy on the 28-year-old star. He was at the centre of a lot of trolling and memes. Something, that would surely be expected in today’s day and age!!

More about the clash between Chelsea and Manchester United at Stamford Bridge-

It was actually a really boring game till the very end. Chelsea took the lead when Scott McTominay, decided to be Scott McTominay and gifted the hosts a penalty-kick. He pulled down substitute Armando Broja and Jorginho scored from the spot. This did not go down well with the travelling fans.

The visitors had looked really dominant in the match and were on the verge of a loss. That too, because of a silly error from one of their “not really liked” players. Just when all seemed lost for Ten Hag, fate had other players.

Former Real Madrid midfielder, Casemiro, who is not known for his goalscoring ability, stepped up to the occasion. Rising up above the Chelsea defence on the bring of full-time, he headed a ball towards the goal. Finally, Kepa couldn’t save one and it deflected off the post into the back of the net. It was 1-1 and this lifeless game had suddenly gained some pace.

Despite that, it was more or less the last action of the match, as nothing substantial followed. Both sets of fans were not happy but had to go home with what they got. Mateo Kovacic in his underwear, HAHA!!
