Arsenal vs West Ham United: Arsenal has had a fantastic start to the season. They finished the first half of the season five points ahead of Manchester City before the World Cup break.
Mikel Arteta’s club was already written out by a supercomputer. But they knew that a victory over West Ham on Monday would have left them eight points ahead of the leaders heading into Wednesday’s game against Leeds United.

Bukayo Saka had never seen Arsene Wenger until that tense evening in north London. A few weeks ago, he said that it was one of his worst regrets. Perhaps Wenger also feels remorse that he did not have a player of Saka’s calibre on his roster during Arsenal’s tumultuous last seasons under his leadership.
Arsenal vs West Ham United: About the game:
In any case, I hope the two gentlemen will always remember their happy and unforgettable first meeting. Here we have the rising star of the present and the legendary player of the past for Arsenal, both in the same stadium. This is Bukayo, calling Arsene. It’s Arsene, speaking to Bukayo.
As Saka scored the goal that put Mikel Arteta’s squad on the way to another Premier League win, Wenger, making his first visit to the stadium since leaving the club in 2018, could not contain his glee.
The large screens showed Wenger cheering in the fans after Arsenal scored their second goal. The audience at the Emirates Arena cheered and sang the Frenchman’s name as one. Toxic days near the conclusion of his rule seemed like ancient history at this point.
How Arsenal is performing
Arsenal’s recent form seemed unaffected by the World Cup break. They easily dispatched West Ham United. David Moyes’ record of 18 away losses against Arsenal is the most against any opponent. Despite having the lead, his squad never seemed like they were going to pull off the upset. His team has now lost four straight league games.
Like waves crashing on a shore, the assaults on West Ham’s defence kept coming. During the second half, the home team scored three goals (one each from Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Eddie Nketiah), with Martin Odegaard’s flawless design providing the inspiration.
Despite Gabriel Jesus’s absence and William Saliba’s error, which gave West Ham an early lead thanks to Said Benrahma’s goal, Arsenal continued to pull away from Newcastle United, increasing their advantage to seven points.
