According to Corriere dello Sport via CaughtOffside (h/t LiverpoolWorld), Liverpool has made an offer to AC Milan for Ismael Bennacer, a former player for Arsenal.
Since joining AC Milan in the summer of 2019, Bennacer has played in 126 games across all competitions. He has contributed four goals and eight assists. The midfielder has been a mainstay in boss Stefano Piolo’s starting lineup this season. He has started 21 times for the team in all competitions.
I Rossoneri reportedly want to keep the defensive midfielder at the San Siro. They are willing to extend his contract. Bennacer has only 19 months left on his deal with the Italian giants.
It seems that Liverpool is ready to take advantage of his contract issue with the reigning Serie A winners. It’s clear that they need a young, seasoned midfielder.
Thiago Alcantara, 31, Jordan Henderson, 31, and Fabinho Tavares, 27, are not getting any younger,. Fabinho Tavares has been obviously terrible this season. Due to a lack of alternatives, manager Jurgen Klopp has kept the Brazilian in the starting lineup in the number six position.
What will come of the Reds’ bid for the Algerian international is still up in the air at this point. It is also worth noting that AC Milan has been connected with many Liverpool players.
The seven-time UEFA Champions League champions are interested in signing free agents Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain if their contracts expire at the conclusion of the current campaign.
Liverpool make a bid for the ex-Arsenal player
Inaki Williams, a striker for Athletic Bilbao, has made comments suggesting that his Ghana colleague Mohammed Kudus may soon be too tall to play for Ajax. The Ajax playmaker has been linked to both Arsenal and Liverpool in recent weeks after being one of Ghana’s few bright spots at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Williams, who was also a part of the Black Stars’ first 26-man roster, recently said on Radio Marca (via teamTALK):
“My teammates at Athletic Bilbao often ask me who impresses me in the national team. I always mention his name. Ajax is becoming too small (for him). Hopefully, he will soon make the step up to a big club. I would have liked him to have a Basque relative who could take him to Bilbao! He is a bomb. A machine. He is already very complete, although there is still room for development due to his age.”
In a 3-2 victory against South Korea in the group stage, Kudus scored twice. The Ghanaian team was eliminated from the World Cup group stage after a 2-0 defeat to Uruguay on December 2.
