Jamie Carragher Names The 2 Arsenal Players Who 'Were Terrified' During The 4-1 Loss Against Manchester City

Arsenal News Today: Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes and Rob Holding, according to Liverpool veteran Jamie Carragher, seemed terrified of Manchester City’s Erling Haaland during Wednesday’s (April 26)) Premier League match. Carragher also said that he too would have been terrified to face the Norwegian sniper head-on.

On Wednesday night, Manchester City defeated Premier League leaders Arsenal 4-1 at home at the Etihad Stadium. Their star player, Haaland, scored once and set up Kevin de Bruyne for two goals. The home team’s other goal was scored by John Stones, while the away team’s consolation goal was scored by Holding for the Gunners.

Carragher tweeted his thoughts on the tense game situation. Carragher said after just 13 minutes that City’s towering centre-forward made central defenders Holding and Gabriel seem scared.

Jamie Carragher said that two Arsenal players “looked terrified” after the 4-1 defeat to Manchester City

Carragher said after the game that Haaland appeared unstoppable and that Holding and Gabriel had little chance against him.

Carragher tweeted: “The Arsenal centre-backs are terrified of Haaland! (So would I be!)”

He added: “Pep talking after the game about using Haaland with more direct passes, he was unplayable tonight when getting the ball early. The CBs for Arsenal were not great, but very few defenders can cope with him physically. I think that was one of Haaland’s best games for Manchester City.”

Haaland has contributed to 40 goals this season in the Premier League (33 goals and seven assists), despite playing in just 29 games.

Mikel Arteta’s team is in a precarious position in the Premier League rankings after their defeat to the defending champions. They continue to lead City by two points, although the Manchester club has two games in hand.

What happened?

After Arsenal lost 4-1 to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, former West Ham United player Nigel Reo-Coker voiced his displeasure with Gabriel Magalhaes. He said that the Brazilian was an easy target for opponents. Gabriel often made mistakes that allowed the other team to create scoring chances.

In the loss against City, Gabriel was uncertain of himself. He didn’t make a single tackle attempt, was unsuccessful in four of six duels, and dropped two of four long balls. The 25-year-old never seemed capable of matching up with Erling Haaland, probably the finest striker in the world.

Nigel Reo-Coker said (via HITC): “I’ll say this now, if I was a captain still playing in this league and in this game, and had a decent striker, do you know what I’d tell my striker? Play on Gabriel. He is going to make a mistake, he is going to do something that will give you an opportunity. He will always make a mistake in 90 minutes or let someone in. Gabriel is still too rash, doesn’t play at a calm level, he’s still too emotionally involved every game he plays in.”
