Chelsea Wants To Sign The £40 Million Rated Goalkeeper With The Approval Of Pochettino

Chelsea Wants To Sign The £40 Million Rated Goalkeeper With The Approval Of Pochettino

According to Ben Jacobs of Give Me Sports, Chelsea has already made contact with Andre Onana. However, at this time, negotiations have not progressed. Given the uncertain futures of both of the Blues’ present players, the club has hinted that Pochettino may have some say in the acquisition.

After a rough patch, Chelsea hopes to once again contend for trophies. After spending over £600 million on new players, the West London club is about to complete a disappointing season. For the first time in a very long time, they are set to not play in Europe.

Financially, Chelsea will take a hit if they don’t play in Europe. However, for now, they need to focus on the future and get ready for the next transfer window. They are close to hiring Mauricio Pochettino as their next manager. They may take the Argentine’s advice while looking to fill up their roster.

In the meantime, Chelsea would prefer to improve their goalkeepers. Andre Onana is now the window’s top priority. There has been a lot of tension between Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga this season. It’s possible that one or both of them may depart Chelsea this summer.

Ben Jacobs claims that Chelsea has already made contact with Andre Onana and his agents. He also stressed that talks remain in their infancy, with nothing having progressed towards a deal for the £40 million custodian.

Reportedly seeking more than £40 million for the goalkeeper, Inter turned down a previous bid. Chelsea is hesitant to overpay, but competition from other teams may force them to up their offer.

Because Mauricio Pochettino may want to sign the Inter Milan player Andre Onana, Chelsea has made contact with him

Jacobs said, “Chelsea have reached out already and spoken to Onana at Inter. There’s nothing necessarily concrete or advanced at this point because Pochettino would have to input to any kind of signing. Particularly goalkeeper, as it’s perhaps the most intriguing signing for Chelsea in many ways because they already have two strong challengers for the number one. But that’s without any clarity for Mendy and Kepa as to who actually would be the number one. A new manager is going to have to input into that as well.”

It is seeming more and more likely that new manager Pochettino will have a significant role in this move, which would be the Argentine’s first signing at Stamford Bridge. If Onana were to come in the summer, he may immediately displace the existing leaders from the top position.
