The GT vs CSK game is going to be a huge match for both sides. The winner will advance to the final of the IPL 2023 tournament. And will surely have one hand on that IPL trophy. Now, both teams have a huge fanbase and will want to make it happen. However, there is only one winner in the game of cricket in the shortest format and we will know which team is that, by the end of the day, tomorrow.
Shubman Gill scored a century in the final game of the group stages to knockout RCB from the competition. He is in 2nd place with 680 runs at present, just behind Faf du Plessis, who is on 730 runs at present.
The team from Bengaluru needed to win the game and talisman Virat Kohli had scored a century for them in the first innings. However, Shubman Gill outshined him and won his team the game.
The Gujarat Titans opener has been in top form in this tournament. He has barely put a foot wrong in IPL 2023 and is one of the most consistent performers for his team. With that being said, he will surely be a threat in the GT vs CSK game that MS Dhoni and co. will want to neutralize and fast!!
GT Vs CSK: 5 Players That Could Outshine Shubman Gill In The Match!?
The knockout stages of the IPL are more intense than the group stages. And there is no doubt that this game will be nothing short of entertaining as well. With that being said, the fans will want a full-cracker, with MS Dhoni possibly set to retire post this tournament. With that being said, it could be everything worth watching for sure.
Now, Shubman Gill has been a HUGE STAR for his team this season already. But, Dhoni is Dhoni. And he will surely try to get him out early and have a plan for it to happen.
And due to this, here are 5 players that could outshine the opening batsman in the GT vs CSK match!!
Ruturaj Gaikwad
The CSK opener from Mumbai has been in some form in IPL 2023. However, he has been rather inconsistent at times and will want to work on that. He has still managed to score 504 runs in the 14 matches that have been played so far. Gaikwad has 3 half centuries to his name as well and this could be a really good platform for him to shine and make a comeback to the Indian side.
Devon Conway
The 31-year-old Kiwi opener has impressed one and all, just like his opening partner. He has 6 fifties to his name. And has accumulated a total of 585 runs so far. Surely, Conway will want to add to that and help his team reach the final. It will be interesting to see how he fares against the GT bowlers though.
Rashid Khan
If there is one man that can turn a game on its head, it is Rashid Khan for sure. And he be keen on helping his team to yet another IPL final. The habit of winning is something that has been inculcated in this man, since joining the team from Gujarat. That is the reason he left SRH in the first place and moved on with his career.
He has 24 wickets to his name in the tournament so far. He is tied on top in the hunt for the PURPLE CAP, along with team-mate Mo Shami. And will want to add more wickets to his name now. Whether he turn the game in the favour of GT or not, remains to be seen. He does have the capability to do so for sure.
Matheesha Pathirana
The 20-year-old Sri Lankan pacer is one of the finds of the tournament. MS Dhoni is utilizing him in the best way possible. And with Lasith Malinga being his mentor, nothing is impossible for young Pathirana. He is clearly a death-bowler and a top lad too.
The attacking fast bowler has constantly been getting wickets for his team and he will want to continue to do so now. With just one game away from an IPL final, Pathirana will want to add to his 15-wicket tally. He will surely be hungry for more and GT better watch out.
Mohammed Shami
Mo Shami has been one of the best bowlers in IPL 2023. He is the leading wicket-taker in the powerplay overs. Further, he and Rashid Khan are tied on top for the PURPLE CAP. Neither one will want to drop any further down the table. It is this healthy competition that has seen GT succeed so far in the tournament. Shami will hope to swing the ball and pick up some early wicketss.
If he does get the assistance, the form and flow that he is in at present, Shami could run through the CSK ranks with ease. It will be interesting to see however, how the pitch behaves. Rain could be a factor as well and so would be the toss, for sure.
Some honourable mentions that didn’t make the list for this GT vs CSK game!!
Deepak Chahar (depends on conditions), Sir Jadeja (under-utilized), Sai Sudharshan (fitness concerns)
