Arsenal Transfer News: Pete O’Rourke, a journalist for GIVEMESPORT, has said that Arsenal is likely monitoring Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, but that he is not likely to be a priority for the club. As the expiration of his contract draws near, the 30-year-old is in connection with both Arsenal and their London rivals Chelsea.
Zaha, who is now rated by Transfermarkt at about £24 million but will be a free agent in the summer, has been linked to a move to either Arsenal or Chelsea, according to TalkSPORT.
If the Ivorian gets a huge move in the next transfer window is anyone’s guess. But former Palace chairman Simon Jordan believes the player might have played for Real Madrid.
Arsenal Transfer News: What’s the matter?
“I do think Wilfried Zaha could have played for Real Madrid. He’s that good,” Jordan said on talkSPORT.
“He’s that good. He could have. Who has guided his career? Maybe if he had some ghastly individual like Kia Joorabchian rolling him around, pushing him everywhere, then maybe he’d have gotten better opportunities,” he added.
O’Rourke thinks it’s unlikely that Arsenal and Chelsea would make Zaha their top transfer target right now. But he believes they are at least considering him.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “If those clubs are looking at him, I don’t think he’s top of their priority list. But being a free agent, I’m sure he is on the radar because to get a player like Zaha as a free agent would only boost your squad and everything else.”

Will Wilfried Zaha move to the Gunners?
Former manager Unai Emery confirmed to The Guardian a few years back that Arsenal had made an attempt to recruit Zaha. Since then, a lot has happened in the Emirates. But if Mikel Arteta is looking to add a winger this summer, the Ivorian international should be on the top of his list.
He’s a top-tier wide forward in the Premier League, with 14 goals in 33 games played. With 2.3 dribbles per game, he also had the best success rate of any member of Palace’s roster (via WhoScored).
Arsenal just acquired 28-year-old Leandro Trossard. He has made an immediate impact in the Emirates and helped his club in the championship battle. In the Premier League, the Belgian has already contributed to six goals for the Gunners, according to Transfermarkt. If Zaha moves to north London this summer, he might potentially have the same kind of impact.
