"He Will Be The New Right-Back Of Arsenal" - Arsenal Open Talks With The €15m Rated Right-Back In 2023

Arsenal Transfer News: The current leaders of the Premier League, Arsenal, have been in negotiations with Real Valladolid fullback Ivan Fresneda with hopes of signing him for the next season

Arsenal Transfer News: It has been reported by Kaya Kaynak of GiveMeSport that negotiations between Arsenal and Real Valladolid for the rights of right-back Ivan Fresneda have already begun. Before the next season, the Gunners would want to sign the 18-year-old. And efforts are already being made to get him to the Emirates Stadium. The team from London has long been interested in signing the Valladolid fullback. This season, the adolescent has excelled for the Spanish team. Recently, he has become rather popular. Kaynak claims that Fresneda’s agent has been in contact with the team’s sports director Edu since January.

Kaynak said: “The meetings took place in January between Edu and the player’s representatives. There are a lot of teams that are interested in Fresneda and this is a running theme throughout Arsenal’s transfer business.

Lots of teams are interested in trying to sign their targets. We saw this in January with Mudryk and Caicedo as well. It’s the same with Fresneda because Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund are interested, so there is lots of competition for him.”

The now-18-year-old used to be a member of Real Madrid’s academy team. Unfortunately, his plans didn’t pan out in Madrid. As the summer of 2020 rolled around, he enrolled at the Vallolid Youth Academy. He has moved through the club’s tiers and is now playing for the first team. The Spanish club has seen Fresneda play 12 times. He has had a number of outstanding performances and now averages 2.9 tackles, 2.5 clearances, and 1.3 interceptions per La Liga game. Those are outstanding statistics for any fullback, much less one who is just 18 years old.

The Valladolid star with the Spain U-19 team will be a free agent in the summer of 2025. His contract, though, has a £27 million buyout provision. Moreover, Arsenal plans to activate it this summer. The Gunners attempted to sign him over the offseason, but the deal fell through because the player wanted to remain in Spain until the season ended.

On the other hand, the Gunners are having a phenomenal season so far in the Premier League. They have 63 points after 26 games, putting them in the first place. In addition, after an absence of seven years, they will compete in the UEFA Champions League once again.

What’s next for Ivan Fresneda?

Mikel Arteta plans to strengthen his squad this summer by recruiting more offensive players. The Spanish coach thinks he needs a new right back. He’d want a more offensive player on the right side of his defence.

His defence will get a boost in speed and steadiness with the addition of the 18-year-old. As of right now, Fresneda is doing better statistically than the team’s starter at right back, Ben White. And he will undeniably be a fantastic addition to the squad.

With competition for his signature from clubs all around Europe, it will be intriguing to see whether they are able to secure his services. Several teams, including Newcastle United, Juventus, and Borussia Dortmund, are monitoring the fullback’s situation. Furthermore, they will make it tough for Arsenal in their pursuit of Ivan Fresneda.
