Talented young defenders, especially centre-backs are really hard to find. And that has become the need of the day, to find a player that can actually defend and is a good ball-carrier too. That is something that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was focused on, right from the start. And that’s when he signed Ben White.
We all (Arsenal fans) remember that transfer saga really well. There were a lot of complaints and many Gooners were not really pleased. However, once he did make his debut and became a regular in the team, Ben White did manage to do well for himself.
From a centre-back, he became a right-back. And eventually, he was the first-choice, replacing another similar defender, Tomiyasu, in the first team. This further inculcated the pairing of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes. What a defensive line it eventually ended up being.
So, this is clearly what Arteta was here to do. Get rid of the deadwood in defence and bring in capable players. And he has added more to this back-line, with Tierney now being replaced by Zinchenko. And Kiwior being added to the mix. Rob Holding was a lesser-used asset, who came into the team from time to time, as well!!

Now, for those who may not know, Reuell Joshua Walters is an English football. He is part of the team’s academy. And has played for the U-21s as well. The reason he got the fans talking about him is due to the fact that he looked really pumped in this picture.
A well-built 18-year-old defender is every manager’s dream to have. William Saliba was a special find for this very reason. And looking at Walters, fans feel that he could be one for the future. And that the Gunners are really lucky to have him amongst our ranks.
What Other Significance Does This Picture Have!?
The player had a previous number of 97. But now, based on this image, it seems that he has switched to 76. It could be something that he wanted. And if it makes him happier and perform better, then why not!? Everyone loves a happy defender!!
Now, if this player does have the quality and the grit to become a top player, then yes, all this attention will be worth it. For now, he is just a happy 18-year-old. The fans have “acknowledged” him and appreciated him. But, it will now be upto his on-field performances to maintain that respect and love.
It he fails to do so, he will have to move on like many others before him. If he can utilize his talents and grow, with the shape he is in, he could be the next Saliba in the making!!
