"I Want To Leave Arsenal" - This Arsenal Player Has Told Mikel Arteta That He Wants To Leave

As the summer transfer window unfurls, Arsenal right-back Cedric Soares seems destined to depart the club. According to TEAMtalk, Soares has garnered interest from Spain’s Villarreal and other top-tier European clubs. Interestingly, Premier League and Portugal’s Primeira Liga teams are also potential suitors.

Informal discussions are already in progress between Soares’ agent and three Portuguese clubs, the report revealed. The 31-year-old defender looks set to leave the Emirates permanently this summer, even though his contract runs until June 2024. His absence from Arsenal’s pre-season fixtures in the United States fuels these rumours.

In a similar vein, Nicolas Pepe and Albert Sambi Lokonga, who were also excluded from the pre-season roster, are expected to exit the club.

In the 2021-22 season, Soares got more pitch time, featuring in 25 games and even starting in 15 of the final 17 Premier League matches

Soares officially joined the Gunners in the summer of 2020, following a loan spell from January of that year. Injuries, however, hindered his performance, limiting him to 30 appearances between January 2020 and the end of the 2020-21 season.

In the 2021-22 season, Soares got more pitch time, featuring in 25 games and even starting in 15 of the final 17 Premier League matches. Nonetheless, the signing of Takehiro Tomiyasu and the rise of Ben White as a reliable right-back pushed him to third choice for the position.

Soares only graced the pitch in four matches for Arsenal in the first half of last season. In January this year, he switched to Fulham on loan, where he played eight times before returning to Arsenal at the season’s end.
