Arsenal News: Was Signing David Raya On Loan The Right Call For The Gunners!?

Revealed: Why David Raya Joined Arsenal Over Tottenham And Manchester United!!

Arsenal News: The Entire Transfer Saga From Back Then- In a stunning development in the summer transfer window, Brentford goalkeeper David Raya reached an agreement in principle with Arsenal on personal terms. The Spanish shot-stopper, who had been the subject of interest from several top clubs, informed current team that he intended to join their Premier League rivals for the upcoming season (on loan).

As reported by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, talks between the two clubs over the transfer formula and price accelerated as Arsenal looked to secure Raya’s services. And then the deal was done.

Arsenal News: The Goalkeeper Conundrum At Arsenal

Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has been keen on bolstering his squad’s goalkeeping options. With Aaron Ramsdale’s form showing fluctuations, Arteta was keen to bring in David Raya to provide stiff competition for the starting spot between the sticks.

Despite Ramsdale recently signing a new deal at the club, Raya has thrown questions into the former’s position as the number one goalkeeper at the club. The two keepers will be vying for the starting role, with Raya currently being favoured. This was due to the North Londoners’ new goalkeeping coach, Inaki Cana, who was previously with Raya at Brentford.

This has lead to intense competition and the fans are hoping that it will improve overall performance in the goalkeeping department. The interest from German giants Bayern Munich had added more intrigue to the Raya transfer saga. But his preference was quite clear and he move to the Emirates. However, have things really worked in Arsenal’s favour so far!?

More On Raya And Why He Was Brought In!?

The 27-year-old goalkeeper had a standout season with Brentford in the Premier League, playing every game in the league. His consistent performances have earned him two caps for the Spanish national team. This has helped in further boosting his credentials in the transfer market. Despite Brentford’s reluctance to part ways with their star shot-stopper, Raya’s contract entering its final year leaves them with little choice but to consider a transfer.

David Raya to Arsenal was one of the most intriguing storylines at that time. Everyone felt that he could change the way that Mikel Arteta’s team plays. But that has not totally been true. His weaknesses have been exposed from time to time. And this has hurt the Gunners too.

Arsenal News: What Next For The Goalkeeping Position At The Emirates!?

Both Ramsdale and Raya want to be the first choice goalie at Arsenal. Mikel Arteta prefers the latter in that aspect. However, he has not had the best of times since his move to North London. With that being said, the latest Arsenal news suggested that Chelsea want to signed Ramsdale.

They had offered a good amount of money, as per the report. (around £50m). Now, if Arteta doesn’t want Ramsdale to be in his plans; and the Englishman wants to leave, then a sale could be on the cards. However, that would only happen at the end of the season, once a permanent deal for Raya is complete.

If the Spaniard is deemed not good enough, then Arsenal may consider signing a third goalie. Unai Simon is said to be linked with a move to the Premier League. Things could get quite interesting in the days to follow!!
