Liverpool and Newcastle United are interested in 19-year-old Dutch-born Spanish center-back Dean Huijsen, who has been causing a stir in Serie A. Amsterdam native Huijsen, who grew up mostly in Spain, drew the interest of the two Premier League teams during his loan stint at AS Roma, where he played 14 games and scored two goals and provided an assist. Huijsen came through Juventus’ junior levels, but he hasn’t been able to establish a regular place in the team despite his obvious skill.
Going into the summer transfer window, Liverpool and Newcastle United are both looking for a center-back. Joel Matip is about to leave Anfield as a free agent, hence Liverpool is especially interested in strengthening their defensive alternatives. The Reds believe Huijsen to be a long-term answer to their defensive issues as he becomes a realistic target.
Liverpool Need A Huge Offer To Sign The 19-year-old Dutch-born Spanish Center-back
Comparably, Newcastle United is looking for defensive reinforcements as they struggle with the loss of important players Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles due to injury. The Magpies’ scouting staff has been watching Huijsen and believes he can improve their defensive line.
Getting Huijsen on board, however, won’t be simple for any team. Reluctant to leave with the gifted kid, Juventus will want a high bid before they would even think about moving him. Huijsen may also be reluctant to leave the Italian giants at this point of his career since he has committed to leave the Allianz Stadium.
Though it depends on the teams’ readiness to satisfy Juventus’ expectations as well as Huijsen’s personal goals, a transfer to the Premier League is still a possibility. Both Liverpool and Newcastle United will have to move quickly to get the highly-rated center-back with the summer transfer window fast approaching. It is still unclear, however, whether Huijsen would choose to continue his growth in Italy or go to English football.
It seems logical that Newcastle and Liverpool are showing interest in Dean Huijsen. Young and gifted, he has shown potential in Serie A. When Liverpool needs a successor for Matip, he may be a wise purchase. Newcastle could also use his talents because of defensive holes brought up by injury. Juventus won’t let him leave lightly, however, and Huijsen could want to remain put for the time being. The English teams will have to come up with a strong offer if they really want him. But should they be able to get him, he may be a great addition to their teams. Within the cutthroat world of football transfers, it’s a risk worth taking.
