Manchester City Star Is Attracting £100m From Saudi Clubs

Journalist Ben Jacobs claims Saudi teams are targeting Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City. With his outstanding career with Man City, talented Belgian international De Bruyne has generated conjecture regarding a possible transfer to Saudi Arabia to end his career with a big contract.

Jacobs said in an exclusive piece that while Saudi teams are interested, it doesn’t appear likely that De Bruyne would leave Manchester City this summer. One element influencing the scenario is Euro 2024, as the midfielder is unlikely to negotiate a trade during the competition.

Manchester City Star Is Attracting £100m From Saudi Clubs

“Kevin De Bruyne remains a target for Saudi clubs, but there’s no indication yet of his desire to depart Manchester City,” Jacobs said. Any possible move is further complicated by the approaching Euro 2024, when stars like De Bruyne are totally committed to the competition.

De Bruyne prefers certainty and stability in his career, thus he would rather settle any move before the start of the next campaign. As Manchester City works to get his extension, Saudi negotiators are ready to wait, seeing a possible transfer in 2025 should talks break down this summer.

“Bold moves are not shy of the Saudi project,” Jacobs said. Notwithstanding the obstacles, Saudi authorities are still in talks with De Bruyne’s agents and are prepared to make Manchester City an offer of more than £100 million.

Essentially, even if De Bruyne is still a sought-after player for Saudi teams, it seems doubtful that he would leave Manchester City this summer because of his dedication to the Euro 2024 competition and his desire for quick resolution of transfers. Nevertheless, Saudi businessmen are tenacious and open to the prospect of obtaining his services in the future.

The Saudi clubs’ interest in Kevin De Bruyne highlights the increasing ambition and financial strength of the local football teams. Given De Bruyne’s extraordinary skill and accomplishments, it’s not shocking. But his possible transfer begs the issue of the larger pattern of elite players going to leagues seen to be inferior in significance. It captures a changing football scene in which players are drawn to rich offers from developing nations more and more. De Bruyne’s career path may not be in line with a transfer to Saudi Arabia, however, given the approaching Euro 2024.

Transfer news analyst Ben Jacobs clarifies the current rumors that Thiago Alcantara and Luis Diaz of Liverpool may be joining Barcelona this summer. There’s not much to these rumors, as Jacobs makes clear in his most recent Daily Briefing piece. Jacobs denies any idea of a sale, saying Liverpool is committed to keeping Diaz. The Colombian winger has been essential to the Reds, and Jacobs thinks that any Barcelona dreams Diaz may have are more of a pipe dream than a reality right now.

With reference to Alcantara, Jacobs says the seasoned midfielder plans to carry on his career in Europe after leaving Liverpool. But when he considers his alternatives, his next move is still unknown. “Luis Diaz is someone Liverpool wants kept. It’s really that easy,” Jacobs says. Given Barcelona’s financial limitations under the Financial Fair Play rules, he highlights Diaz’s current contract until 2027 and Liverpool’s lack of intention to unload him.
