Arsenal Told To Replace The €70m Star In The Lineup

Didi Hamann thinks that in order for Arsenal to finally win the Premier League, they need to bring in a new striker to take Kai Havertz’s spot. Mikel Arteta has led the Gunners to two near-title finishes. They were only two points behind the winners from the previous season and ended five points behind Manchester City in 2022–23.

After leaving Chelsea for £65 million in the summer of 2017, Kai Havertz signed with Arsenal. Despite a shaky start, he was instrumental in Arsenal’s run for the championship. In the Premier League, he assisted on seven goals and scored thirteen. Regardless of his efforts, Hamann maintains that the 25-year-old is “not a centre forward” and that Arsenal needs a replacement if they are to win the league.

The matter:

This summer, Arsenal had interest in acquiring Benjamin Sesko, a striker from Slovenia, but Sesko opted to stay put with RB Leipzig and extend his contract. Even with this loss, Hamann is of the opinion that Arsenal still needs a committed center striker to improve their championship prospects.

Havertz recently debuted his skills in the first match of Euro 2024. He scored for Germany in a 5-1 win against Scotland. with their role as tournament hosts, Germany will take on Group A foes Switzerland and Hungary with the hopes of advancing far in the tournament.

Despite not being able to sign Sesko, Arsenal will still be looking to add a striker to their roster this summer. Some have connected the Gunners to Ollie Watkins, Ivan Toney, and Alexander Isak. Theo Walcott, a former Arsenal player, thinks Watkins of Aston Villa and Isak of Newcastle United would be great additions to their teams.

Arsenal has to get a top-tier striker soon because the pressure is on. The feeling expressed by Hamann is shared by many fans and commentators. Many think a more conventional center forward would provide the clinical finishing touch to earn vital victories, despite Havertz’s solid play.

Arsenal, according to Arteta’s plan and vision, will have a mix of young and old players. This goal might be achieved by bolstering the team’s depth and adaptability with the addition of a seasoned striker. If you want to turn ties into wins or tight defeats into triumphs, you need the correct striker.

Several players have been linked to Arsenal as they look to add a new striker to their roster. Ivan Toney, who is renowned for his aerial prowess and commanding presence, might be a strong choice for the box. Alexander Isak is a multi-talented forward because to his combination of speed and technical ability. Another good choice is Ollie Watkins, who has scored goals consistently for the Premier League.

With Theo Walcott’s support, Isak and Watkins have a stronger case for being elected. Walcott is in a special position to understand what Arsenal is looking for and what kind of player would be a good fit for the club because to his time spent there. He seems to think these guys have what it takes to do well at the Emirates.

What did he say?

Hamann shared his thoughts on the “In The Zone” podcast, saying, “Kai Havertz had a decent end to his season with Arsenal. I’ve seen him since he was 17 years old, and the kid has always been so good. When I watch him, I sometimes think he probably doesn’t know how good he actually is.”

Hamann continued, “Even though he scored a few goals for Germany now, I just think he’s capable of so much more. But he is not a centre forward and I don’t think he wants to play as a centre forward. He’s 25 and at a stage now in his career where he has to choose his position. He has to nail it down because he’s playing wherever Arsenal or Germany need him.”

“If Arsenal bring in a centre forward, which they probably have to if they want to win the league, it’ll be very interesting to see where Havertz plays or if he plays,” he added.
