Chelsea Want To Bring Back Their Former Player

Reportedly, Chelsea is thinking about bringing back Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth during the summer transfer season. Chelsea is interested in the 26-year-old striker, according a Graeme Bailey story on HITC. Only the ‘Big Six’ teams may activate the £65 million release clause that Bournemouth has included in Solanke’s contract.

With his support, Bournemouth has been able to establish themselves in the Premier League after their comeback from the EFL Championship. He used to be a highly regarded talent in the Chelsea academy. July 2017 saw Liverpool sign him for free in an attempt to realise his potential. But Solanke suffered while at Liverpool, spending a difficult eighteen months at Anfield before transferring to Bournemouth.

Turning to Bournemouth changed his career. With time, Solanke developed more self-assurance and emerged as a vital member of the team. In 42 games across all competitions, he scored 21 goals and contributed four assists, making for a remarkable season in 2023–24. Bournemouth’s drive towards the top half of the Premier League standings was greatly aided by his performances. Several well-known teams, notably Chelsea, have thus noticed his development.

Reports surfaced recently that connect Solanke to a relocation to London. His interests have been expressed by West Ham United, Tottenham, and Arsenal. Chelsea, however, may be the squad to lure him back to the metropolis. Chelsea hasn’t been successful in pursuing other strikers, such as Benjamin Sesko, and they won’t fulfil Victor Osimhen’s release clause. As such, Solanke has become a realistic target for the club. Though it won’t be cheap to sign him, Chelsea has already made an inquiry.

A substantial investment, Solanke’s contract includes a £65 million release clause. This provision may only be triggered by the “Big Six” teams, enabling them to sign him. If The Blues choose to pay the whole fee to re-sign Solanke this summer, that is still unknown.

From a bright young player at the Stamford Bridge to a struggling player at Liverpool and, at last, regaining his form at Bournemouth, Solanke’s career has been an emotional rollercoaster. Chelsea finds him appealing as they want to bolster their team because of his progress at Bournemouth, which has shown his skills and tenacity.

Chelsea may be taking a risk by bringing Solanke back given his past difficulties. Still, his recent outings indicate that he has grown into a dependable attacker. It seems Chelsea thinks he can repeat his Bournemouth success at Stamford Bridge based on their interest in him.

Chelsea has to decide as the summer transfer window draws near. Although Solanke has a huge £65 million release clause, it may be worth it if he helps the club. Solanke would be experiencing a fantastic career full circle if the trade goes through.

Chelsea is giving re-signing Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth real thought. Many elite teams have taken notice of his outstanding achievements, but Chelsea is a top target since they need a striker. If Chelsea is prepared to activate the £65 million release clause and bring Solanke back to Stamford Bridge, it will become clear in the next weeks.
