Liverpool has made Portuguese defensive midfielder Joao Neves their top summer goal. Manchester United has also shown interest in Neves, who is seen as a vital addition to Liverpool’s midfield. Liverpool’s desire to strengthen their team for the next campaign is shown by their pursuit.

Rising through the Benfica levels, Joao Neves has had a big influence ever since he joined the first squad in the winter of 2023. He is now training for Euro 2024 after being selected to the national squad due to his achievements. Neves is a sought-after player in the transfer market because, while being young, he has shown consistent performance for both club and nation.

After a significant restructure last summer, Liverpool is keen to bolster their midfield. They are eager to replace the long-term defensive midfielder need even if recent acquisitions have strengthened their team. Liverpool has been keeping an eye on Neves for some time, thinking the 19-year-old would make a perfect addition to their squad. Scouts have kept a close eye on him, and comments from his national teammate Diogo Jota have piqued their curiosity.

Liverpool want to establish Neves as their main goal and launch an offer for him in the next days. But Neves won’t be easy to sign. Benfica is certain about its position and wants nothing less than his €120 million release clause. Liverpool has a big obstacle in this high price tag.

Liverpool Want To Sign This Defensive Midfielder

Manchester United is another team watching Neves, which heightens the rivalry. Under the new part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the Red Devils are going through a significant squad makeover. Neves is very much on their want list, which makes the competition for his signature fiercer.

Liverpool has to be very cautious negotiating these obstacles. They have to move fast and decisively because of the rivalry with Manchester United. Potentially changing the game for Liverpool, Neves would provide the young energy and defensive steadiness they need in midfield.

Liverpool is indicating their goals for the next campaign by pursuing Neves. They want to provide Arne Slot a strong team that can compete at the top levels. Even if acquiring Neves would not be easy, Liverpool’s will to get him highlights their calculated approach to team development.

Liverpool has made a concentrated attempt to improve their midfield, as shown by their designation of Joao Neves as a top target. Manchester United is a rival and the release clause is hefty, but Liverpool is still determined to get him. With Neves on board, their team may improve dramatically and the next season looks bright.

Matthijs De Ligt, 24, a defender for Bayern Munich, has long been coveted by Manchester United. The Red Devils have shown interest in the Dutch international, who cost a whooping €77 million to join Bayern from Juventus. Financial limitations could, however, prevent United from launching a serious offer.

According to recent rumors, these financial obstacles are the reason Manchester United is waning its interest in De Ligt. Though the Dutchman’s expensive price tag presents a big obstacle, the team needs defensive reinforcements. A top-notch center defender is still desperately needed by Manchester United, particularly since Raphael Varane is about to become a free agent. With his background and qualifications, De Ligt seemed like the ideal person to fill this position.
