A Major Update On Kieran Tierney

A Major Update On Kieran Tierney

The end looks to be in sight for Kieran Tierney and his tenure at Arsenal. The Scotland defender hopes to finalize a long-term transfer this coming summer. Injuries and Mikel Arteta’s shifting tactics have made it an uneventful tenure for him at Arsenal. Tierney, who was once considered a potential captain, was benched in 2022 when Oleksandr Zinchenko joined the team.

Tierney, a left-back with central defensive capabilities, was on loan at Real Sociedad last season. There, he became a key member of the squad and sought to reignite his career. Unfortunately, he was only able to make 27 appearances due to persistent hamstring ailments. At the European Championships, he left the pitch in a 1-1 tie with Switzerland, continuing his injury woes. Tierney is devastated by his most recent injuries, and the extent of his recovery time is unknown.

A Major Update On Kieran Tierney

Even though Tierney is well-liked by Arsenal supporters, he obviously has other plans for the future. Possible targets for Arsenal’s left-back search include Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori. Tierney would be demoted even farther if this were to happen.

Going back to Real Sociedad is quite improbable. For almost £8 million, the team is almost acquiring Sergio Gomes, a left back for Manchester City. Tierney, who Celtic acquired from Arsenal for £25 million in 2019, is now willing to take a mere £10 million from Arsenal.

Injury has hampered Tierney’s otherwise promising career at Arsenal. In his pursuit of a new chapter, he finds common ground with the club, which is also seeking a new beginning. Finding a setting where he may flourish is crucial to his future success, although his skill and drive are obvious.

It is a sad truth of sport that injuries can ruin even the brightest careers; Kieran Tierney’s possible exit from Arsenal is proof of this. Tierney needs a new beginning elsewhere, despite his obvious potential. Tierney needs a regular role, and Arsenal’s decision to let him leave cheaply shows their change of priorities.

More news:

So far this summer, Arsenal has not made any signings, but that may change shortly. Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori is a target for Bologna. Arsenal remains persistent after seeing their first bid turned down. According to the Italian newspaper Gazetta, Arsenal has raised its offer for Calafiori to €55 million (£50 million).

Arsenal seems to be in the driver’s seat, while Chelsea and PSG are also interested in this talented defender. Despite Italy’s early withdrawal from Euro 2024, Calafiori’s status was elevated by his strong achievements. Arsenal may get a superstar if he can replicate that performance in the Premier League.

According to reports, Calafiori has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Arsenal, which include a salary of €4 million per year. Arsenal does have other requirements outside acquiring Calafiori, however it seems to be a priority. In particular, if Thomas Partey departs this summer, they will want a new striker and maybe a new midfielder.

Bologna’s decision on the €55 million offer for Calafiori is still up in the air. For a guy who has had only one breakout season, this is a hefty sum. Still, Arsenal isn’t slacking off despite having the Premier League’s top defense last year. With Calafiori’s signing, they want to bolster their defense even more.
