Arsenal Approach PSG For €21.5m Midfielder

Arsenal is negotiating with Paris Saint-Germain to bring Fabian Ruiz to the Emirates. Mikel Arteta’s team hasn’t added any fresh players this summer. Still, they are almost closing a €50 million (£42.1m) contract for Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori. Before the next season starts, Arsenal wants to add a central midfielder and a new offensive player to their team. Last season’s Premier League runner-up Arsenal has shown interest in Ruiz after his outstanding performances for Spain at Euro 2024, according to Duncan Castles. Ruiz moves depending on Arsenal selling a midfielder.

Arsenal Approach PSG For €21.5m Midfielder

The agreement with PSG may reflect the David Raya move from Brentford last summer, most likely a loan with a buy-after a year commitment. Ruiz paid €21.5m (£18.5m) to join PSG from Napoli in August 2022. Starting just 21 games in Ligue 1 during his rookie season, he battled to carve a consistent place in PSG’s midfield. Luis Enrique previous season only has 14 league starts.

Ruiz shined for Spain at Euro 2024, scoring twice and assisting twice, therefore ranking among the tournament’s best performers despite his club difficulties. Ruiz told Le Parisien he is content in Paris and has three years remaining on his contract, with many goals to reach at PSG when questioned about his future.

From Arsenal’s point of view, Ruiz may provide the required midfield stability and inventiveness. His performance at Euro 2024 shows he can play on a major arena. Although his lack of regular starts at PSG would draw some criticism, Arteta’s approach might highlight his finest qualities. Bringing Ruiz in on a loan-to-buy agreement also reduces the financial risk and allows Arsenal to evaluate his fit within the team.

This possible action shows Arsenal’s will to assemble a strong team ready for contending for championships. Fans should keep hope as these calculated actions reflect the club’s ambition and readiness to commit resources on elite players.

Arsenal sees a move for a prolific striker with references to Chelsea great Didier Drogba. The recruiting staff and sporting director Edu Gaspar are still looking for a top nine. Many say the final item Mikel Arteta needs to guarantee the Premier League championship is a proven center-forward.  Under Arteta last season, Kai Havertz performed well in a makeshift striker position. His twenty-one goal contributions in all were crucial. Havertz supported Arsenal in pushing Manchester City to the wire with Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard.

Havertz’s achievement nevertheless makes Arteta seek a genuine striker before August 30 shuts. Earlier, after RB Leipzig’s 19-goal season, Arsenal expressed interest in Benjamin Sesko. Sesko, however, renewed his contract with Leipzig, therefore excluding a summer relocation.

Edu’s hunt for a striker goes on; various names draw his eye. Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres is connected but might be costly with an £84 million release clause. Also on Arteta’s radar as a less expensive choice is Ajax’s Brian Brobhey, who last season scored 22 goals and offered 12 assists.

One name that keeps coming up in the gossip mill is Victor Osimhen, Napoli. Sky Sports’ Gianluca Di Marzio claims Arsenal may make an approach for Osimhen not too far off. Among the best players in Serie A, the Nigerian striker enabled Napoli to win their first Scudetto in decades. Osimhen comes with a huge price tag and a release clause far beyond £100 million. Benoît Cauet compares him to Drogba and George Weah; ex-Napoli manager Rudi Garcia describes him as a “crazy driving force.”
