Liverpool is looking at their midfield choices and have lately added Adrien Rabiot as a possible substitute for Martin Zubimendi, their main aim. Football Insider notes that while Liverpool is still eager to acquire Zubimendi, Rabiot is under discussion given the issues surrounding the Spaniard’s relocation.
The concept of Zubimendi filling Liverpool’s new No. 6 has generated excitement among the supporters of the club. For their midfield this window, the club considers him as a major focus. Seeking to guarantee the midfielder’s move, they are aggressively talking with Real Sociedad. Still, obstacles exist. One big obstacle is Zubimendi’s dedication to his childhood club, where he has spent his whole career.
Liverpool Want This Midfielder Who Take Wages Of £10 Million A Season
For Zubimendi, Real Sociedad has set a release clause of slightly over £51 million, which they want paid in whole. Liverpool’s preferred method of payment is in installments, hence their search might be hampered. Liverpool is leaving their choices open to negotiate these complexity, hence Rabiot is a desirable choice.
Having left Juventus, 29-year-old World Cup finalist Rabiot is open for trade. He is a reasonable choice because of his expertise and availability free of a transfer cost. But his salary requests more than £10 million a season, which Liverpool would find problematic. Still, this would be a reasonable cost in relation to the hefty upfront payment Zubimendi demands.
Liverpool’s scenario reflects their strategy from last summer, when they bought Wataru Endo despite missing top targets like Moises Caicedo. Although Rabiot’s expertise might be helpful, other teams—including Manchester United—who also have an eye on the French midfielder could provide competition. If Liverpool wants to guarantee Rabiot, particularly if talks with Real Sociedad and Zubimendi do not proceed as expected, they will have to move quickly.
Though Zubimendi is still Liverpool’s best option for midfield, Rabiot provides a sensible backup. Although he is a strong contender because of his expertise and absence of a transfer price, Liverpool has to carefully consider his high pay expectations. Should Liverpool be able to handle these expectations, Rabiot might prove to be a shrewd signing.

Currently at Burnley, 26-year-old Norwegian midfielder Sander Berge is under consideration for Manchester United. Though Burnley’s £30 million asking price, reports from TEAMtalk show the Red Devils are ready to give £25 million to land Berge.
Once a great prospect at KRC Genk, Berge has not completely shown his ability since he arrived to England in January 2020. Having shown great performance in Belgium, he drew attention from numerous elite teams. Burnley has seen him make forty appearances, scoring twice and providing two assists. But Burnley’s demotion to the EFL Championship has made Berge keen to leave Turf Moor after only one season.
It is not surprising that Manchester United has interests. Particularly after Casemiro’s erratic performance during the 2023–24 season, the team has been looking for a steady holding midfielder. Berge has become a reasonable substitute after talks about Manuel Ugarte running afoul of plans.
