Arsenal getting ready with a bid for £100m rated attacker

Arsenal are moving with clear intent this summer. The club have made clear hints about its priorities: strengthening up front and adding a new winger. The need arises from an inconsistent performance on the left flank, where both Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have alternated flashes with long stretches without real impact.

Mikel Arteta’s side are looking to break that inertia with an ambitious decision. While rumours of a new ‘9’ revolve around Viktor Gyökeres, what is now beginning to take hold is the growing interest in a player with big-game experience, decisive goals and competitive character. Rodrygo Goes comes into the picture.

According to Florian Plettenburg, quoted by Football España, the north London club are taking firm steps towards a possible deal with Real Madrid for Rodrygo. The 24-year-old Brazilian could be left in a tricky situation after Real’s recent signings. Given that scenario, Arsenal would be willing to step in. The formal negotiation stage has not yet been reached, but early contacts are taking place. The final decision will depend on a number of factors, including the price, the player’s willingness and Florentino Pérez’s stance. What is certain is that Rodrygo’s name is in the Gunners’ plans.

The possibility of seeing Rodrygo in an Arsenal shirt doesn’t seem absurd, but it won’t be a simple process either. The Brazilian is under a long-term contract in Madrid and will not come cheap. A fair figure, considering the current context, should be no more than €70m. Exceeding that amount would put unnecessary pressure on the club and could affect other reinforcements.

Opinion:

However, if Real Madrid prioritise freeing up space for Kylian Mbappé or Endrick, a deal could be more affordable than expected. Arteta needs profiles with pace on the wings, tactical reading and a hunger for the limelight, and Rodrygo offers that. His adaptation to the Spanish coach’s attacking system would be immediate. He can play open on the left or start from the right. The Brazilian has an eye for goal, vision, intelligence off the ball and a track record of turning up on big nights. With him, Arsenal would add a different element, more mature than Martinelli, more incisive than Trossard, and less prone to disconnections.

There is an angle that is often overlooked: the pressure Rodrygo faces in Madrid could disappear in London. At the Emirates he would have room to grow without the constant comparisons with Vinicius or Mbappé. He would be a leading figure rather than a supporting actor. That difference could unlock a freer, more explosive version of the Brazilian.

Arsenal would gain a player who still has room to improve, and Rodrygo would find a more favourable environment to be regular. If Berta plays his cards right, this signing could make a significant difference next season. But they must act intelligently and not get carried away by the urgency. Because this type of move, if done well, changes the dynamics of the team. If they are done badly, they are costly.
