Parma want to sign Arsenal player for whom the Gunners demand €20 million

Parma look to Arsenal player Fabio Vieira to strengthen their midfield

Parma want to make a leap in quality. After years of wandering between Serie A and Serie B, they have managed to establish some stability. Although promotion was celebrated with enthusiasm, their return to the top flight has not been straightforward. The team has been inconsistent, with good moments fizzling out due to a lack of attacking clarity. Carlos Cuesta, the new coach, has taken on the challenge with determination. He wants to change the team’s profile. He wants more of the ball and more dynamism. For that, the manager needs signings that offer something different.

For weeks now, names have started to be bandied about. Rumours, phone calls, and negotiations that are progressing blindly. Parma don’t have a big budget, but they do have a clear direction. The team needs quality in the final third. The coach has already asked for a creative player, someone who knows his way of working, someone who can take responsibility with the ball at his feet.

Vieira is emerging as the star signing

According to Gazzetta di Parma, Fabio Vieira is of great interest. The Portuguese playmaker, currently without space at Arsenal, would be open to a move to Italy. It coincides that Carlos Cuesta, who was his assistant in London, now manages Parma. The link exists. The possibility is gaining momentum. Vieira comes from playing a full season at Porto, where he showed glimpses of his best. Although he did not shine consistently, he contributed goals and key passes in several matches.

Vieira stands out for his vision, his control and his ability to link up with strikers. The 25-year-old’s style adapts well to the positional play that Cuesta wants to implement. The player, moreover, would be willing to reduce his salary to facilitate the transfer. The problem is the price, as Arsenal are asking for 20 million euros. Parma can’t pay that, but they are confident they can negotiate. They know that Vieira is not in Arteta’s plans, and the player wants to leave.

Should Vieira go to Parma?

Fabio Vieira’s situation is delicate. His talent is undeniable, but he has not had the consistency in the first team. In England, the Portuguese never felt comfortable. He lacked confidence, minutes, and a clear position. In Porto, he recovered his form, but not enough to convince the club. Now, Parma offer him a new door. They are not the most glamorous club, but they are one where he could play a leading role. Moreover, a reunion with Cuesta could help him to regain his level.

From Parma’s point of view, the operation makes sense. A 25-year-old player, with European experience, capable of leading the offensive creation. If they manage to close the deal for a reasonable price, it could be a great investment. Vieira needs an environment where he can grow without so much pressure. Ideally, the deal should be done soon, before another competitor comes along.
