Tottenham target is set to join Arsenal in the coming days

In north London, Arsenal fans are breathing in the air with a mixture of awe and nostalgia. Every transfer window brings rumours, but there are stories that tug at the heartstrings. This time, Eberechi Eze is in the headlines. The English striker, who grew up dreaming of wearing the red and white, is getting closer to realising that dream.

After years of shining for Crystal Palace, his name is now being bandied about more than ever to bolster Mikel Arteta’s side. Eze is not just any signing; his emotional attachment to the club adds a special ingredient to the operation. The illusion of a never-before-told return is making its way through numbers, clauses and negotiations.

Tottenham target is set to join Arsenal in the coming days

According to L’Équipe, Arsenal have accelerated in the last few hours to close the deal for Eberechi Eze. Talks are progressing and the board are currently assessing the possibility of activating the £60million release clause. Crystal Palace are adamant that they will not negotiate below that figure.

In addition, TBR Football reports that Tottenham have reportedly cooled their interest, leaving the way clear for the Gunners. For Eze, to return to the Emirates would be to close a circle that began when he was a child and experienced a painful break after being discarded by the club. Today, that dream seems closer than ever.

Opinion:

Personally, I think activating Eze’s clause is a move that Arsenal should consider straight away. Paying £60m is no mean feat, but this is an attacker in the midst of maturity, with 27 years and Premier League seasons to back it up. It is not easy to find wingers with his ability to break lines, draw opponents and hold up the ball under pressure.

Mikel Arteta needs attacking variations; Eze would fit the role to give Martinelli, Saka and Odegaard oxygen. His style suits an Arsenal side looking for verticality without losing control. In addition, his past with the club could give him extra motivation to succeed where he has not had the chance to establish himself before.

His performances for Palace show a player capable of making the difference in tight games, just what Arteta’s side sometimes lacks when space is at a premium. Compared to other wingers on the English market, Eze brings a mixture of dribbling, pace and creativity that few others have. He is not as explosive as Saka, but his reading of the game can open cracks where others see nothing.

Many remember his 22/23 season, when he bailed Palace out with key goals and quiet leadership. In terms of strategy, Arsenal have shown caution and cool heads in moving in the market since the arrival of Arteta and now Berta. Spending on Eze would send a message of ambition, but also of coherent planning. Sometimes, fulfilling a childhood dream is not just a nice story; it can be the driving force that makes a player work his socks off every weekend. If they want to go one step further in the fight for the Premier League, this is the kind of risk worth taking.
