According to the latest reports, German club Bayern Munich is reportedly interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey in the January winter transfer window. It’s unlikely that Ramsey is going to sign a new contract and Arsenal will be looking to sell him in the winter to generate some revenue from his sale.
Ever since taking over from legendary manager Arsene Wenger in the summer, Unai Emery has brought a massive change at Arsenal. The Spanish boss has breathed in some fresh life at the club after Wenger’s 22-year reign at North London.
During his tenure, Wenger won the Premier League title on three occasions and the FA Cup seven times as manager until finally announcing that he would leave the club in the summer. All that is in the past now and Arsenal are going through a great spell at the moment. With a 14 game unbeaten streak, the Gunners are showing the world that they are serious contenders for silverware and ready for the future.
After a tricky start in the Premier League with losses against champions Manchester City and Chelsea in their opening two fixtures, Arsenal has come back extremely well. The fans are happy and a top 4 berth looks pretty certain for the club even though it’s so early in the season. This turn around was also because Emery spent on quality players in the summer transfer window to bolster their squad. With things looking positive and rosy for Arsenal at the moment, there is only one situation which is bothering the club and that is the contract of Welsh superstar Aaron Ramsey.
It was reported that Ramsey was demanding a massive hike in wages to extend a new deal with Arsenal as his current contract expires in the summer after the end of this season. Arsenal has not learned to deal with this situation and therefore have not given into Ramsey’s contract demands. Although Ramsey was set to sign a new contract with the club with a lower wage bracket, the Arsenal transfer board has withdrawn that offer off late. So now, it seems certain that the 27-year-old is bound to leave the Emirates Stadium after 10 years at the club.
Arsenal’s Premier League rivals Liverpool were showing a keen interest in signing Ramsey but Jurgen Klopp’s Merseyside outfit will face competition from an old enemy in the form of Bayern Munich. The Bavarian club is currently four points off the pace against leaders of the pack Borussia Dortmund, who have had a flying start to their campaign. Bayern wants to lure Ramsey to the Allianz Arena and strengthen their midfield department as the Welshman is a proper box to box midfielder. With Bayern’s key players aging they are lacking sharpness and Ramsey would definitely add some quality to the side. However, Bayern and Liverpool are looking to sign Ramsey on a free deal, but if Arsenal allows him to leave in the January winter transfer window, the two European superpowers will have to battle it out for the former Cardiff City star.
