According to the latest reports, Premier League side Chelsea have made an offer to sign Borussia Dortmund star forward Christian Pulisic in the winter transfer window. With the Blues struggling to find a proper goalscorer, they may need to turn to a new option to bolster their attacking line for a top 4 finish this season.
Chelsea fans had every right to be delighted as they became the first club to beat champions Manchester City in the Premier League this term as N’golo Kante and David Luiz scored in a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge last Saturday. The West London club re-ignited their chances of competing for the Premier League title after a run of poor results against Tottenham Hotspur and Watford. Maurizio Sarri has pretty much instilled his philosophy into the club and the players are responding to the Italian, who is blessing the Premier League with some eye-catching football.
With the January transfer window closing in, Chelsea are in the hunt to sign a proper goalscorer who can help them challenge for glory. And Sarri has been keeping tabs on American international striker Christian Pulisic, who is considered a wonder kid and arguably one of the best players for the future. The positive trait about Pulisic is the fact that he can play anywhere along the front line either on the flanks or down the middle, he can also play as a second striker which is a number 10 to make those important through passes to the main striker.
Chelsea now holds the advantage of signing Pulisic in the January transfer window despite Borussia Dortmund claiming that their superstar is not for sale. Pulisic has only eighteen months left on his current deal at the Westfalenstadion but has reportedly held talks with the Dortmund board that he wants to leave Germany and follow his dream of playing football in the Premier League. More so, Pulisic is keen on leaving as quickly as possible because he is unable to receive regular football under new Dortmund boss Lucian Favre this season.
The Pennsylvanian born star has made just 5 Bundesliga starts this season and six substitute appearances scoring just one goal and notching up two assists in the rare game time he has received. The emergence of young English superstar Jadon Sancho has pushed Pulisic further down the pecking order and he now wants a move to Chelsea as soon as the January transfer window.
The Blues have reportedly sent in a request to sign Pulisic in January and a reported ‘official approach’ of £70m bid is on the table for Borussia Dortmund should they accept the deal and allow Pulisic to head towards Stamford Bridge. The only stumbling block for Dortmund is that they are aware of Public’s ability and are not keen on letting him leave because he has the potential of becoming a world class player in the near future. Personally, I feel that Pulisic is not worth £70m but that is the inflation in the transfer market at the moment and Chelsea are in dire need of a goalscorer.
